My first post within a long journey of recognising and accepting myself without society's stigmas. It took me half my life to finally feel free, and I'm okay if it bothers you. I am finally choosing me.

There are those who believe time moves like a spiral, something non-linear, where, even as we move forward, we (re)visit and (re)explore ourselves.
Closing a cycle is looking at the same path with a different awareness, and beginning a new one does not mean starting from zero. These new paths already emerge from a curve, and it is on that curve that we stand.
Há quem acredite que o tempo se move como uma espiral, algo não linear, onde, mesmo enquanto avançamos, nos (re)visitamos e nos (re)exploramos.
Encerrar um ciclo é olhar para o mesmo caminho com uma consciência diferente, e iniciar um novo não significa começar do zero. Esses novos caminhos já emergem de uma curva, e é nessa curva que estamos.

Wow! I’ve learned so much this year. I worked through the pain of mourning and loss, letting go of some people who were very dear to me; but most of all, I felt ready to let go of the part of me that was connected to them. I am different now. I feel the growth I’ve been nurturing all this time, and I feel the love, gratitude, safety, and comfort in the people around me. And that brings me so much peace 🩵

Rain creates a sound that our brain interprets as safe. Its frequency reduces the need for alertness and guides the body into a deeper state of relaxation. This predictability allows the brain to stop reacting to the unexpected, saving cognitive energy and reducing stress. This effect is close to what we call white noise: sounds that distribute energy across different frequencies. Rain can behave as white noise when it is uniform; or for example as pink noise when it sounds softer.
The white noises help mask external stimuli and reduce neural vigilance. Raindrops create stable frequencies within a predictable range, allowing the auditory cortex to habituate. For this reason, rain sounds and instruments such as the rain stick are used in sound healing: they help lower the noise of the external world and make space our inner sound.
A chuva cria um som que nosso cérebro interpreta como seguro. Sua constância reduz a necessidade de alerta e conduz o corpo a um estado mais profundo de relaxamento. Essa previsibilidade permite que o cérebro deixe de reagir ao inesperado, economizando energia cognitiva e reduzindo o estresse. Esse efeito se aproxima do que chamamos de white noise: sons que distribuem energia em diferentes frequências. A chuva pode se comportar como white noise, quando é uniforme; ou por exemplo como pink noise, quando soa mais suave.
Os white noises ajudam a mascarar estímulos externos e reduzir a vigilância neural. As gotas de chuva criam frequências estáveis dentro de um intervalo previsível, permitindo que o córtex auditivo se habitue. Por isso, sons de chuva e instrumentos como o pau de chuva são usados em práticas de sound healing: eles ajudam a baixar o ruído do mundo externo e abrir espaço para o nosso som interior.
