DONYELLE - PART 2
Most of this Part 2 work represents Donyelle as a Teacher, Director and Choreographer. To say that her students loved her would be a great understatement. And when they collaborated, she wanted to mine what made each and every one of them special and beautiful, revealing that in the dance.

I love that Brian is teaching and choreographing for Donyelle with such obvious joy here. I also love that many of the young dancers who came out to support and learn from Brian are Donyelle’s students.

Clips from After the Anthropocene July 2024. This was the very last night of the run - not even a hint of breeze to be had. We really had to work to make the waves that night. I loved working with these artists and am a little sad that we aren’t cooking up something for you this summer. I’m sure you can guess the myriad of reasons why, but a big one is that I am still so tired.
I started working on the Break to Build project in 2021. After all of its varied iterations both live and on film, After the Anthropocene really did feel like a fitting conclusion. Now is the incubating and regenerating. The gross, gooey part of turning into the next thing. ProLab is enjoying some small explorations into uncharted (for me) territory. Expansion will come again, but this summer will be soft and quiet and healing - i hope for you too.

After the Anthropocene by ProLab Dance performed July 2024 at Zidell Yards, Portland, OR
DEATH and DELIGHT opened @bodyvox two nights ago and I filmed and edited this to celebrate that performance and their beautiful collective collaboration.
I encourage anyone in Portland to go see and experience it. Support dance. Support the arts. Support the right and opportunity to do both.

BodyVox in Rehearsal
Throughout the run I will change the cover photo each day to highlight another moment in the production. Opening Night was last night.
Huge thanks to @bodyvox for inviting me and my camera into their rehearsal, to capture their exquisitely stunning process. Go see DEATH and DELIGHT - support dance and all of these beautiful artists. May 8 - 17 @bodyvoxdancecenter .

Who loves a little durational pre-show performance art to set the mood? ProLab Dance sure does!
Laura did some social dancing with Chat GPT while Leiana sorted 150 numbered ping pong balls. This was all a very round-about way to randomly select our VR participants for the evening. Yeah, we could have kept it simple, but we just had to follow the ‘what ifs’ all the way to here.
Thanks so much to @pdxpanorama for including our curiosities in the festival and thanks to @industryonefoundation for hosting us.

A little secret about me is that I’m 63 and I get to film & edit dance videos for AMDA, the College where I teach and Interim Chair for Film & Television Arts. I edited this for Social - a vertical first for me. CHROMA TOUR - Directed by Kyle McHargh - @kyletdmchargh , filmed by Scott Gill’s team with a special shout out to Frankie Guerrero - @franklingfilm
AMDA dancers and choreographers….you absolutely slayed this show!
