Last month, #TeamSRP joined the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the first Altadena home rebuilt by the Hope Crisis Response Network. We’re excited to share the new Chair for the California Fire Foundation Board of Directors, Darrell “Doc” Roberts!
Chair Roberts is an active-duty Battalion Chief for the Chula Vista Fire Department and is the President of @cafirefighters . He has served on our board for six years, and joined us in Altadena doing disaster relief aid distribution along with his wife, Mel. He has also served on FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 8.
We look forward to working with Chair Roberts on our mission to provide support to families of fallen firefighters, firefighters and the communities they protect.
🔥 Firefighter Type 2 Training – Real Training. Real Impact. 🔥
We recently wrapped up an incredible Firefighter Type 2 training, delivered by the Good Fire Training Network—a program of the Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation—and it was an absolute pleasure working alongside our partners at Fire Support Unlimited. 🤝
Because of a grant awarded to the Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation, we were able to take this training to the next level—providing live fire training for our participants. There’s no substitute for real-world experience, and this is exactly what prepares our trainees for the realities of the fireline.
We want to extend a huge thank you to the California Fire Foundation and PG&E for making this possible. Through their support, we secured $10,000 in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)—helping ensure our firefighters train safer and smarter.
And thanks to our partnership with Vallfirest North America, we were able to stretch those funds even further, purchasing nearly twice as much PPE through discounted pricing. 💪
This is what capacity building looks like—real gear, real fire, real training.
We couldn’t do this without our partners and supporters. Thank you for helping us deliver safer, more realistic training and building the next generation of fire practitioners.
