 - Promenade des Bastions 8, à Genève LE CENTRE DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE GENÈVE ET FOCALE s’associent à l’occasion du Mois suisse de la photographie pour une soirée de rencontre et d’échanges autour de trois livres photographiques récemment parus. ⁠ Rencontrez les artistes REBECCA BOWRING, OLGA CAFIERO ET SARAH CARP et découvrez leurs ouvrages respectifs. - "Knowing Thunder", de Rebecca Bowring (membre photographe de FOCALE), paru chez Artphilein, propose une autre vision de la violence domestique sur la base de l’expérience personnelle de l’artiste. - "Ephemeris", d’Olga Cafiero (lauréate de l’enquête photographique vaudoise), rend hommage aux imageries et aux croyances animant le Messager boiteux, almanach paraissant depuis 1707 sans interruption. - Sarah Carp (membre photographe de FOCALE), avec "Sans visage", paru chez Acte Sud, aborde les questions complexes du droit à l’image des enfants. "J'ai réalisé que l'Almanach n'est pas seulement un objet que l'on lit, mais un objet que l'on lit à haute voix." - Olga Cafiero Pour l'exposition "Enquête photographique vaudoise", Olga s’est intéressée à l’"Almanach du messager boiteux", une publication annuelle mêlant prédictions pour l’année à venir et récits d’événements passés. 🗞️🏃‍➡️ Ce projet explore différentes approches de la photographie, mêlant images de balises météo équipées de GoPro et clichés pris en observatoires. Ensemble, elles illustrent les thèmes centraux de l’Almanach : croyances, superstitions et leur persistance. "Enquête photographique vaudoise. Le regard de six photographes" est à découvrir jusqu'au 28 septembre à Lausanne 🎟 Entrée libre 📍 Photo Elysée . " I realized that the almanac wasn't just something to be read. It was also something to be read aloud for people who can't read." For the exhibition Photographic Survey of the Canton of Vaud, Olga Cafiero became interested in the “Messager Boiteux” Almanac, an annual publication that combines predictions for the coming year with accounts of past events. 🗞️🏃‍➡️This project explores different approaches to photography by combining images from weather beacons equipped with GoPro cameras and photographs taken in observatories. Together, these images illustrate the Almanac's central themes: beliefs, superstitions, and their persistence. "Photographic Survey of the Canton of Vaud. Olga Cafiero nous en dit plus sur « Ephemeris », paru fin juin. 👉Olga Cafiero est une photographe suisse et italienne, née à Côme en 1982. Diplômée en photographie et direction artistique de l’ECAL, elle explore les intersections entre l’art et la science, ainsi que les processus d’accumulation et de transmission du savoir. Son travail cherche à capturer la beauté et la complexité du monde naturel à travers un langage visuel inspiré des sciences. Régulièrement exposée en Suisse et à l’étranger, elle a publié « Flora Neocomensis » (Scheidegger&Spiess, 2020) et « Lignes de crêtes » (Noir sur Blanc, 2021). Born from an artist residency at @garesiovini , the exhibition explores the cultural and wine-making landscape of the Barolo region in the Langhe. The Langhe seen through Cafiero’s eyes are not a static image, but a rich layering of stories and traces left by both humans and nature. ☄️ Olga Cafiero @cafierooolga is one of the finalists in the Photography category of the Swiss Design Awards 2025! Excited to share a first look at her nominated project! – For Spécimens 24, Olga Cafiero explores the collections of the Naturéum, the Cantonal Museum of Natural Sciences in Lausanne, and questions the notion of the museum as a space where knowledge is juxtaposed and exchanged. Inspired by scientific methods, she questions the relationship between the inert and the living. With (In)animalis, she highlights the uniqueness of each specimen using a variety of techniques: ultraviolet light to imitate the vision of pollinators, outdated films to reveal the passage of time, and 3D scans and prints to alter the way fossils are perceived. She revisits Müller’s herbarium of brambles, transforms Auguste Forel’s ants into anonymous portraits and animates hundreds of collected objects against a grey background in reference to scientific indexes.
