In doing this mix I had fun outside of my comfort zone. I’m not really one for releasing mixes online, so I decided this mix should be purposeful and translate me as an artist. Embedded in this translation is a much larger call to support local, not only in the music industry, but in general- as a method to combat the climate crisis. A common misconception surrounding the climate crisis, designed by green washers and large profit based orgs, is that our “fragile” planet needs us to save it. This is false. The Earth is resilient and will survive the climate crisis, we will not if we do not open our hearts, and act. The truth is that responding to the climate crisis will SAVE THE PEOPLE not the planet. I too believe in our human capacity to act collectively if we feel it in our hearts, but I believe more so in our South African ability to act collectively.
