We will be open THIS SATURDAY for cat adoptions! From 12-4pm, you can stop by the shelter and meet our adoptable kitties. We have only had THREE cat adoptions this entire year and ZERO attendees at all five of our cat adoption events. 😥

Wendy is a very sweet girl that is struggling in the shelter environment. She gets very anxious and restless. She was able to stay in a foster home for a little bit, and was much more at ease there. Unfortunately, she is back in the shelter 😥

Chili is a 6 year old chihuahua mix. He loves toys and is so funny! He is 22 pounds. Come meet him tomorrow at the shelter, rain or shine! ⛈️♥️ 6357 Quinn Dr. in Baton Rouge, LA 😇 Chili has not been dog, cat, or kid tested yet.
Ringo may be 11 years old, but he loves to play! He is usually very calm and a little lazy, but the laser pointer brings out his kitten self! 🐱
Ringo has now officially been waiting for a forever home at CAAWS for an entire year 😥 He is fuzzy, affectionate, and full of personality. This handsome old man would be the perfect addition to your family. He would prefer a home that is low stress and where he is the only animal.

Since the beginning in 1979, CAAWS has been a 100% volunteer run organization. We have an abundance of volunteer opportunities. Whether you need community service hours, you love animals, or you’re just looking to get out of the house, we have a role for you!
- In-shelter volunteer opportunities include morning and evening dog/cat shifts (our biggest need!)
- Public events
- Pet touch therapy
- Fostering
- Humane education
- Special events committee
- Fundraising committee
- Administration/communications
