Excited to finally get these tunes out in the wild, written and recorded with my dad and sister π. Looking back, it's no surprise I chose art and music as my livelihood. Growing up my sister
@jessicacarmichaelmusic I were surrounded by it. My dad has been a working musician his entire life. He's nearly done it all, smoke filled bars with bands, countless studio sessions, numerous solo albums, a gold record from songwriting in Nashville. Though through all of the ups and downs of his hard work and accomplishments, one of his greatest was teaching my sister and I what it meant to work hard, dream and be true to yourself. Lessons that I truly cherish and will hopefully pass on to my own kids. In our home growing up where our neighbors had what would be called the family room, we had a recording studio filled with instruments, tape machines, microphones, guitar amps and many other certainly breakable items for small kids to play with, of which my sister and I had nearly free rain to play with, explore and create (with some subtle adult supervision π€£). To say it's long been a dream of mine to write a record together with my dad and sister is surely an understatement. And over the last 2 years we finally got our $%!# together and did the damn thing. We even pulled in our brother from another mother
@k_david_a to come slap some drums on a few of the tracks. This is the title track off the album, and is a homage to our shared love of Motown and Stax records from the 60's and 70's.
