There’s no way you could’ve told the kid from out west who grew up dreaming of seeing his name in magazines that he would be doing so. Those thoughts always revolved around basketball publication and the journey has been filled with ups, downs, and, more importantly, great memories and having the trust from athletes, editors, and executives to tell their stories. To have a baseball cover story in a local mag that sits in the two airports of my hometown - where millions pass through - is insane.
I made myself a promise I’ll get better at highlighting these milestones more to look back and remind myself that the kid from out west is doing exactly what he dreamed about.
I had the opportunity to profile @jordanclarksons for @flauntmagazine ’s The Beautiful Game issue.
Having spoken with him a few times for previous projects, it always comes down to the same theme.
Nothing about him feels forced.
Hoopin’, style, personality - it all feels connected. He’s the same person in every room he walks into.

Joy isn’t performative—it’s intentional.” 🏀✨
For @flauntmagazine ’s Joy Is Contagious issue, I sat down with @carmeloanthony to talk about redefining legacy beyond the game, finding peace, and why every new venture—from wine to wellness—is about building brick by brick.
Melo opened up about resilience, criticism, and how “Stay Melo” has become his compass in life after basketball.
What does legacy mean to you? 👇

Even with the ever changing landscape of media, I never take for granted the stories that are shared with me, and the opportunities I get to experience and learn from. Great week in Austin learning about the world of @motogp . There’s nothing like it. Thank you to the engineers, riders, and staff that were excited to share their passion and insights into the sport. Special thanks to @absbabs419 for a brilliant intro into a sport unlike no other.

Thank you to the WM team for their hospitality last week. I learned so much about the zero-waste initiatives in the lead-up to the @wmphoenixopen , but seeing the behind-the-scenes operations—and hearing firsthand the commitment employees have to sustainability, community, and their mission—was incredibly inspiring.
The golf wasn’t bad either. ⛳️

At the end of August, @nike invited me to run in the Chicago Marathon. My initial reaction was a firm “HELL NO!” But after a few hours of thinking it over, I decided to take the leap—and I’m so glad I did. Running 26.2 miles teaches you a lot about yourself and the people around you who are pushing through the same challenge. Along every turn of the course, spectators were there offering hydration, drinks, music, high fives, and encouragement—each one appreciated and needed. Thank you to everyone who sent encouragement virtually. I appreciated it all. Saying that I’ve completed a full marathon is something I never thought I’d be able to claim, but now I can proudly say I’ve done it. And yes, in case you’re wondering, my ankles and every joint below my waist are definitely stiff and sore, but the journey to that finish line was absolutely worth it.
Such a great time in Hawaii. Big thanks to the @adidasgolf team for extending the invite. While I need to get in the lab and get my swing down pat, the views, sunshine, and great people more than made up for my golfing haha.
Having traveled to Milwaukee a ton during my beat writing days, @bucks home games were a great place to get work done. From a fan standpoint, the Bradley Center seemed like the place to go when you wanted to see your favorite visiting player, team, or just wanted to catch an NBA game.
It seemed that for every patron wearing Bucks gear, there would be three others wearing the gear of another team. Covering Bulls games at the Bradley Center was a different story altogether, as the arena would be covered in red.
Seeing over 60,000 in Bucks gear outside of Fiserv Forum during their 2021 title run was a drastic turnaround. Not only have the Bucks built a roster around Giannis, Jrue Holiday, and Khris Middleton that can compete for titles — the grassroots efforts over the last decade plus to build a true relationship with the city of Milwaukee, and the work across the entire organization in rebranding and reshaping their image nationally and globally has been equally as impressive.
Before they embark on their quest for a second title in the last three years, I wrote about some of the moves that have helped forge this new era in the Bucks brand for @fastcompany

With being part of the flat feet gang, and the older I’ve gotten, I’ve learned the importance of orthotics, insoles and having support for your feet. While making the rounds this past weekend at the Indycar season opener in St. Pete, FL., I put the @moveinsoles All Day to the test and they rival the support of my orthotics without any of the stiffness.
I highly recommend these for those who work long hours on their feet or even for casual wear as the factory-issued insoles are mostly flimsy and offer no true support or comfort. Head over to #move and use code CHRISCASON15OFF for 15 percent off your purchase. Thank me later.
The coverage of professional sports and athletes has taken me places I never considered or once thought were beyond my reach. The best part has been the knowledge I’ve gained, parts of the world I’ve gotten to see, the connections I’ve made, and getting to see the work that goes into the craft of some of the world’s most elite individuals and seeing the impact they have on their fan bases.
Thank you to @indycar and @ilanared for the hospitality this past weekend. If you’ve never been to a race, get to one! It’s a unique experience for sure. I never thought a kid from the West Side of Chicago would ever be inside of a race car, let alone getting to experience just a small amount of what the drivers feel when they’re competing.
There is nothing like seeing your work in print. Thank you to @strongislandmediachi and @nikechicago for the trust in helping highlight the story of @nolimitherbo ’s connection to the All-White Air Force 1’s. This zine was in celebration of the 40-Yr Anniversary of the AF1.
Thank you to @nobull for their hospitality last weekend, which included Friendsgiving, a brisk morning run, their fitness film festival, great food, times and lots of new friendships. I even got to see my Colts get smacked in Gillette Stadium.
