I want you to meet some friends of mine: the Alhallaq family. Najla and Youssef met in university and saved for years to buy a beautiful home in North Gaza to raise their kids Adam, Omar, and Bilal.
When the genocide began, the family's life savings and belongings, down to children's clothes and toys, were taken by the occupying army. Their beloved home was destroyed with bombs and missiles. They became displaced like millions of other Palestinians, forced to live in dangerous, unsanitary, and inhumane conditions with insufficient access to food, water, medicine, and proper shelter. On Aug. 17, 2025, Najla gave birth to Eva at the Al-Mawasi Field Hospital with only the minimum of medical care available.
I've been running a Gofundme at the family's request since most fundraising sites are blocked in Palestine.
With the money raised so far, we've been able to supply crucial food and medical care on a semi-regular basis. My ability to provide this relies entirely on donations.
Thanks to the fundraiser, we provided the bare minimum of clothing, diapers, and milk for the baby, as well as a medical checkup and vitamins for Najla. But the family is in danger and they desperately need your help. Even a small amount of money can literally be the difference between life and death. Find my donation page and more of Najla's story at the link in my bio, and please share this post if you can't donate. 🫂
I would like to take a moment to celebrate one of my favorite items, my beloved devo energy dome. I had the honor to meet Mark Mothersbaugh at Boulder Film fest on Saturday and the head spud agreed to grace it with his signature. It is an item of indescribable personal value which has been with me through so much since its construction in 2021 by River and Lou. If you've ever donned this particular energy dome please know that it has now made it back to the Source and recieved the blessing of a real spud. I feel the powers of Devo possibly even more strongly than I ever have before.
A piece of footage I digitized back in 2022 is making its debut with music of our friends @satellite_pilot :) "Space Science for Beginners" is a 9 min long 16mm educational film from the mid-70s with original footage of people, science experiments, and space-related animations. It's an orphan film with no names, credits, or copyright. Other than a couple breaks in the perforations it was in pretty good shape. Over time films experience red dye fade, where the colors other than red fade from the emulsion while the image itself remains. I color corrected the footage myself and I thought it might be cool to see the versions side-by-side. The film and its voiceover are super entertaining but my favorite part is at the end when a new kind of space station is pitched-- including rooms for animal testing!!! Link to the full thing is in my bio!
