📣 In light of the recent sharp rise in cases, we are deciding to postpone the Body Language Experience until February 26th. This date is tentative, and we will share updates closer to the date.
We consider the embodied, in-person aspect of this exhibition integral to the experience, which is why we have decided against adapting it to a virtual format.
We hope that everyone stays safe during this time, and takes time to care for their mental, physical, and emotional health ☺️💖
🗣 How does language shape the way we relate to our bodies?
📣 We are thrilled to announce our upcoming interactive exhibition, “The Body Language Experience: Stories of Hurt, Hope & Healing” in collaboration with @c.nterspace , where we explore how narratives shape how we experience our bodies. We bring awareness to how we perceive our bodies and ourselves through a mindful exhibition.

🤍 Soul & Sound Recap! We had an incredibly healing and meditative Crystal Sound Bowl Session with sound healer @marymedinayoga . Each sound ushered in restorative vibrations all around 💫
Our Expressive Arts session through fingerpainting presented an opportunity to play, be curious, and interact with the textures of paint and canvas. We formed gratitude jars to anchor us in meaningful reminders for the year ahead. 🥰
Over dinner, our healing sessions invited conversation around perfectionism and how we do / and do not live up to ideals that we set for ourselves. We reframed what “perfect” is and what that actually looks like in reality.
🌟💚 Deeply grateful to share moments of healing at the end of an intense year. More workshops will be coming soon, so stay tuned!

📣 Body Banter and Center Space are excited to announce our upcoming collaboration to host an interactive exhibition, “Body Language” to bring awareness to how words shape our perceptions of our bodies and ourselves.
To prepare for this event, we are hosting a pre-event session, where volunteers are invited to record stories about their bodies as our “translators.” These stories & photographs will form the visual & auditory experience of “Body Language.”
W̲h̲a̲t̲ ̲w̲i̲l̲l̲ ̲I̲ ̲b̲e̲ ̲e̲x̲p̲e̲c̲t̲e̲d̲ ̲t̲o̲ ̲d̲o̲ ̲a̲s̲ ̲a̲ ̲v̲o̲l̲u̲n̲t̲e̲e̲r̲ ̲f̲o̲r̲ ̲t̲h̲i̲s̲ ̲e̲v̲e̲n̲t̲?̲
Translators (aka volunteers) are invited to share narratives of how they perceive their bodies in the form of voice recordings & photographs. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘺? 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦?
By participating in this experience, translators are expected to 1) record your story as a voice memo and/or 2) be photographed - materials which will be used as part of “Body Language,” our interactive, immersive experience held on January 2nd, 2022.

Are you hungry yet? A culinary partner we love is @tableoftwocities , which is a program run under @grassrootsfuture that supports cooks who hold refugee/asylum status in HK. One of their Egyptian cooks shared a marvelous treat for our sweet teeth with us on Halloween: basbousa.
Basbousa finds its origins in Egypt, and like almost every dish, has made its way to other countries. Here, the semolina batter was baked, then sweetened in rose water syrup. (As you can see the sticky love in the bottom left corner.)
Thank you for sharing your skills & heart, TOTC!
Stay tuned for more of our partnerships in the community. ✨🖤

We’ll be sharing more about our partners tomorrow :) Family pumpkin photos from last night (3/3). As we wind down into the fall season, we curated the space drawing from the host’s favorite parts about fall: pumpkins, sweets, hot chocolate, and cosy friendships.
We carved 5 pumpkins from our local market. For every person, this was their first time carving a pumpkin! What a treat.
They gutted the pumpkins, and while carving, we roasted the seeds and salvaged what we could for pumpkin soup, and composted whatever we weren’t using.
