CBD today, lab-grown meats tomorrow. What's next?
Our world today is moving at a frenetic pace ⚡️, with consumption driven by fast-fading fads and what pleases the 👁. But we believe there is value and beauty in making different - and better - uses of the long-known, untransformed produce of our Earth. This is what we live by, and we desire to express this through food, an essential element in each of our daily lives.
We dream of making great products that embody and embrace natüre from the inside out. But more than this, we aspire to be a resource from which yoü can draw knowledge and appreciation for the understandings and practices that inspire our creations. We will never take lightly anything we share, since knowledge is fundamental not only to our foods, but also for forming healthy habits that can bring lasting change.
The wealth of our minds determines the health of our bodies - and our 🌏.
curious bites and sips with @fabricax_hk
this was a special project in the past two months. at the beginning of the year, we were presented with the challenge to curate a canapés and drinks menu with @atomocoffee beanless coffee, @prefer.sg sustainable cocoa extender, and @farmacyhk local hydroponic microgreens. we didn’t think twice to say yes because of the potential meaning and impact behind this work. it is an honour to be trusted to showcase the products and ingredients from all these companies devoted to make food with less.
the event finally took place at a beautiful space in @commaa.hk last week, and the turnout certainly exceeded our expectations. the word community is perhaps overused these days, but that evening we felt a genuine sense of energy and connection amongst the attendees. people paid to come, from vegan chefs to dieticians and corporate sustainability managers; and so many of them took time to dive into the what, how, and why behind our curations. it’s comforting to feel true care and desire for a different mode of consumption all for a better future.
so a big thank you again to all the collaborators who made this such a memorable event to serve. please see below for the plant-forward food menu.

been pushing back on writing this post for a while now, as i feel this deserves some proper thought and reflection.
opening a restaurant was never part of any plan. it has always looked impossibly intricate on the outside, and crucially amongst us four partners, only jas had honed her home cooking skills at manteca in london for a year. the rest of us? all vibes, zero experience.
many asked why we still did it - it was love at first sight when we first met this coastal corner early 2024. the place brought so much irrational excitement that even when our families and friends told us to exercise serious caution with starting a business here, it didn’t stop us from dreaming of what memories we can make here.
they had every right to worry about us. why wouldn’t they when four people with virtually zero hospitality experience decide to take down a spot that sits up to 60 people to open their first ever restaurant in a remote spot within a remote area? it all sounds completely insane, but only and only if you were in my shoes and you get to know my partners then you may understand why i still took the plunge with them.
growing up i’ve always been obsessed about teamwork. in a good team, you experience all the great things from being human. the unique satisfaction you gain from creating something great with others, the incredible relationships you make from spending so much time with one another, the staunch support you feel in moments of challenge, the warm empathy you receive when shit happens in life. with jas, judith, and nelson, i deeply feel they’ve taken all of this to a whole new level. no words do it justice, but i know i can count on them unconditionally just like my blood family.

at the end of this month, we’ll be moving away from being a cafe towards a restaurant. one we’ve always dreamed of opening.
a modern enoteca serving low-fi wines with seasonal sharing plates. our cuisine will take inspiration from the freshness along the mediterranean shores, and the umami flavours and fermentation culture of japan.
serving brunch in the last three months was always part of the plan. a gentler stepping stone to provide the experience and learnings we need to move forward into a lunch and dinner service. thank you to every one of you who have visited so far - your support and feedback have been invaluable in making gróa a better place.
next week we will open for lunch and dinner with a revamped menu. our hours will change to 12-9:30pm with a tea-time break between 4-6, during which we’ll only serve bakery goods, coffee and wine.
we can’t wait to kick this off, but for those who love our brunch menu, please come this week before it goes away. see you around.
Name a better way to send off your beloved colleague than hosting a wellness workshop, where everyone makes conversation, something healthy to eat, and something to take home to their loved ones.

A new benko!
When we started this brand, we dreamed for it to bring honest good food to as many as possible. Fresh ingredients, asian flavours, varied nutrition, wholesome feels - served to you with love and soul everyday. Now, three years after @basehallhk kindly gave us a kickstart to test out this concept, we’re here making one big step forward with our second deli at @elementshk .
What’s incredible about benko is it’s made for you to come back again and again. It’s food you can eat daily that makes you feel good and satisfied. There’re so many options that you don’t ever have to enjoy the same meal. It’s premium quality without an extortionate price tag. Whether you fancy rice, noodles or salad, something soupey or light, vegan or gluten-free, there’s something for you and you will feel great from it all the same.
We launched this location in mid June and have loved every minute of serving you in Kowloon. Thank you to those who came up to us to thank us for opening, appreciate us for the bowls they enjoyed, and equally importantly, give us constructive feedback so we can build a strong and sustainable business to keep living our dreams.
New beginnings, but always the same principles. Everything we do is to help you live well with longevity. Thank you for reading and happy Friday everyone!

Finding the sweet spot
We recently hosted a new workshop on the management of sugar intake. We shared how to identify unhealthy carbs and sugars, the consequences of consuming excess sweets regularly, and tips on reducing sugar cravings for long term health.
Our workshops always contain an element of DIY. Fitting to the theme, we shared a wholly natural recipe for vegan cacao truffles. Each participant made a box of goodies with their favourite toppings to take home to their loved ones.
Eating sweet isn’t always bad, it’s just about finding the sweet spot.
be with friends, put your body to work, eat well. good days don’t come simpler.
thank you @shelterathletics for co-hosting the perfect first event / collab! plenty more to come
