Another Awarded Category: TRAVEL “The Silent Art of a Geisha”

Thanks again @teds_cameras @australianphotography_magazine for this…. Another awarded category. One of my lifelong dreams was to visit Japan and see a Geisha in person. I spent many years practicing Japanese martial arts from a very young age, and the image of the Geisha was something I often saw and admired back in my dojo. After nearly four hours of walking through Kanazawa, in the Geisha districts, she suddenly appeared at a window. My partner, Katherine, immediately began gesturing with her hands, kindly asking her to look toward the camera so I could take a photo. I took around 20 shots in just a few seconds — and this is the result of that long wait. If it weren’t for Katherine and her effort to capture the Geisha’s attention, this photograph would not have been possible. I was completely mesmerised by her beauty, and once again, I fulfilled a dream: to visit Japan and witness a Geisha with my own eyes. “The Silent Art of a Geisha”

I’m pleased to share the result of my participation in Photographer of the Year 2025, a photography competition presented by Ted’s Cameras, the event’s major sponsor, alongside its supporting partners and Australian Photography. I’m honoured to have been named a Finalist in the People category with my photograph “Life on Water – Thailand’s Floating Market”. This was my first photography competition, and I’m incredibly proud to have taken part and of the result achieved. Thank you to the organisers and sponsors for the opportunity. A special thank you to Katherine, my partner, for her constant support and for giving me the push to go for it 🤍 #ausphotomag. and tomorrow, another one.
