I’m holding a screening of my first ever documentary, A POET’s GUIDE TO ATL this Saturday, April 8th, at 6pm at ArtsXchange. I hope you can make it, however there will be several more screenings to attend over the next couple months.✌🏾-Max
Accountability Partners (2025) is being screened at @moviesandmocktails_ on March 27th! All the love must be sent to @bymaxlloyd for casting me for this comedic role 🙂↕️

One of my resolutions this year was to get out of my comfort zone. So I did just that. Since late January i’ve been preparing a comedy set which i will be performing in 3 days in front of a live audience. I also documented the whole process. Stay tuned for the film to drop in late march. We’ll see if I can pull it off.
1. Camera movement. Static camera shots definitely push you to create stronger compositions, but movement can inject that little bit of added life and energy to a film. In 2026 i’m picking the camera back up.
2. Delegation. In almost every project i’ve worked on, i’ve done not only the directing, but filled at least one other position as well, be it the camera operation, sound recording, set design, pa, editor, etc. In 2026, I want to delegate, and trust more people with the technical side of the process, that way I can be more present creatively on set.
3. Casting. I want to open the range of actors I work with. I want to work with older actors. Child actors. Even babies. Working with actors who have been mostly my age or slightly order has been nice, but I want to push myself.
4. Drama. I tend to lean towards comedy when I write and direct. I want to push myself to tell more serious stories this year, learn more how to draw emotion out from performance and direction, and hone in on sincerity in my work.
5. Patience. I tend to move quickly as a filmmaker. If I write a script, i’m ready to cast the next day. This year I want to slow down. Do more drafting. Do more casting. Take more time to plan. Wait for even larger budgets. I think my work this year will be better for it.
Btw, My Friend, the Poet is dropping February 6th to youtube🙏🏾
In 2024, I embarked on a mission to write and direct 4 narrative short films over the course of 2 years as my film school after film school. I would learn the basics and intricacies of production, build my confidence as a director and leader, and most importantly…fail. Fail and learn. Fail and try again for the next one.
Now, my fourth narrative short is just about complete and I can’t wait to share this latest project with you all. From here I will be writing and directing my “thesis project,” TBA, and that’ll be graduation I guess🤷🏾♂️
