The way virtual samples are made is changing so fast now with AI, it's crazy. The results can be super convincing, but at the same time, when working with the currently existing, widely available AI tools, we have to accept that that it was trained on stolen data, that the environment has been harmed, that you are undermining your own skills, and that you are giving big tech and the U.S. more power.
Who would guess that the image I post here was made with the blood, sweat and tears of our by_Eser and stCreative alone? Shape modeling, texturing, art direction... No AI was used. This is an image from the Circular Chain Project we did in 2023-24.
Today, even with AI, the workflow we used then is still relevant, because for us, "realness" is crucial. We create digital twins of real knitted items, not fantasy items. Going forward, we continue to use our own, real knit data in the visualisation process, and build our own AI-models and training data.

In September, we partnered with @d_archive.io , a platform preserving fashion heritage and making it accessible digitally, to host a workshop exploring their methods, research, and creative process.
d_archive shares digital patterns from historical garments, many of which are too fragile to ever be exhibited. Together, we invited the SYKY community to reinterpret these patterns and bring archival fashion into the digital age.
