Weeks posts
Some moments in the studio this week. I’m currently working on a few different designs for a cropped top and a vest. In this video I’m setting up the machine and knitting the front of one of the pieces. Love seeing the single thread transform into fabric and clothing. #slowfashion #knitting #knittingmachine #machineknittingdesign #knitwear

A few weeks ago I started my residency at the studio of @ceola_tb and @maurik_stomps . I’m about halfway through now and I’ve spent most of my Fridays so far (my one day in the week at the studio) getting to know my knitting machine and is functions, and working towards what I’m super curious about - making a garment! It’s so different than knitting by hand and there’s so many techniques to master. I’m learning how to build patterns from scratch, how to work armhole and neckline shaping, how to link pieces together, etc. Very happy that I have this time and space to properly dive into it, and I can’t wait to make what I’ve been prepping for ✨ Sharing some process things in the pictures and below: 1: My Brother KH-710 machine. 2: The shape of the boxy vest I want to make. 3: Small test for the armhole with ribbing. 4: Small tests for the neckline, each with a slightly different curve. The one with the ruler on it is the final version! 5: Lots of measuring and translating those measurement to stitches and rows (what a knitted piece is made up of). This has by far taken up most of my time. It’s been 80% calculating, drawing and erasing, and only 20% spent knitting behind the actual machine. 6: Drawing out the final knitting plans (this is the back). Each small square on this graph paper resembles one stitch. #knitting #knittingmachine #slowfashion

Aanmelding is gratis. -EN- On Saturday, April 4 10:00 - 12:00, I am organising a clothing repair café at @stadskwekerijdekas . Do you have a pile of clothes at home that needs some work? Perhaps there’s a button that’s loose, a tear in your jeans, or a hole in your wool jumper. During the repair cafe you will learn how to repair, darn or mend it with some help from me. Thinking of joining? There is room for 8 - 10 people. Send me a DM if you would like to be there. Registration is free. Good to know: ✔️ Bring a garment you want to repair, for example, a sweater, pair of jeans, or an old T-shirt. ✔️ Do you have your own repair materials? Be sure to bring them along. There are also extra tools and materials available, as well as some scrap fabric if you just want to practice repair techniques. 📷: @super.gijs #mending #reparerenkunjeleren #repaircafe #slowfashion stadskwekerijdekas

Laurel’s shirt, February 2026 Another one! Another shirt* for @roombaghost , this time in a beautiful and light muslin made from natural indian cotton. A lovely cloth to work with. I especially like seeing the light shine through the shirt and how it accentuates the layers of fabric. I hope Laurel will wear it in the summer, I think it will feel very light. *For more details about the shirt, check out my website (link in bio) #slowfashion #handmadeclothes #sewing

Merchant and Mill’s Florence Top, February 2026 This top has been on my to-make list for a while. I was inspired by the buttons on these bed sheets I have from IKEA. Every time I looked at the cloth covered buttons I thought that it would be so cute if they could be used as a button closure for a shirt of the same fabric. That’s almost a year ago now, but my top is finally finished. I just have to wait for some warmer weather to wear it. #mmflorence #slowfashion #handmadeclothes #sewing #merchantandmills

Row’s Wave Vest, March 2024. During the Christmas Break last year I casted on for the Wave Vest by Rows Knitwear. This pattern here really plays with the structure of the stitch and asks you to go back a few rows to pick up a loop here and there. Alice (the designer) said the stitch pattern was inspired by the Hokusai print; The Great Wave. I can sort of see a cresting wave in there, but it’s most obvious to me on the back of the work where you can see rows and rows of these wavy lines. I love the back almost as much as the front and wish I could’ve made it reversible somehow. It was a joy to knit anyway and the contrast between the different patterns of the main body and the edges is really beautiful. @rows_knitwear #wavevest #knitting #slowfashion #makingbyhand

🧦🍂🫖🪡🧤🧶🩹♻️🧷✨👕 On Thursday, October 24, @wietske_nutma (@by_wietskenutma ) will host a 2-hour hands-on workshop that will cover all you need to know about darning. We’ll learn about darning tools, how to pick the perfect yarn, get a step-by-step darning demonstration as well as the chance to take part in a darn-a-long, and we’ll end with weaving in the tails. All you need is a damaged garment you want to repair. By the end of the workshop, you will have mended a small hole in a knit or woven garment. We’ll start at 19:30 and finish around 21:30. There are 12 spots, RSVP by emailing [email protected]
