Living in an era of hyperconnectivity, distraction, overconsumption and overexploitation. Living in an era of artifice and roads that currently lead us nowhere.
Viewpoints on certain aspects of our world, revealing contradictory, subtle, absurd, comical or open to interpretation situations on our contemporary society.

The history of markets dates back from antiquity to the present day and is deeply rooted in human civilization.
When I travel, going to the market is one of the first things I do in order to immerse myself in the culture and meet people.
Each market tells a story, of a culture, of local people and a way of life. Markets are both places of commercial exchange and social spaces, where locals and visitors meet, chat, and share.
When you explore markets, you discover not only products, but also the soul of a people.
In this series, I wanted to show that markets are universal. Despite cultural differences, this place is familiar to us, different and similar at the same time.
Wherever we are in the world, we are all the same.

This series questions the concept of time and the passing years.
For this project, I went back to see people or places that I had photographed between 10 to 17 years ago so far, in order to juxtapose two images and create a visual journey through time.
That’s a significant number of years when we think about it, and they have flown by. I think that this feeling is universal and affects all of us, especially after a certain age.
Simple images evoking the time that has passed, of locations, of the same people, most often in the same places.
Some things have changed, others have not, people have aged, grown up, some have left us and others have arrived.

Since 2019, I have been interested in trees, particularly in urban environments. I focus on details, mainly architectural, that embrace, adapt, integrate, and respect trees where humans live, symbolizing at the era of climate change, the necessary symbiosis between us and nature.
Wherever we are on this earth, trees are a universal symbol of nature. That’s why I’ve been collecting images taken in different parts of the world for several years now.
Each photograph becomes a tribute to these green giants, revealing their discreet but crucial presence in our societies and for our planet.
« Living together », from French expression « le vivre ensemble » should not only apply to humans but also between us and nature.
Trees have been on Earth long before us. These fascinating living beings have cross time with incredible resilience, and for that reason, we must show them respect. That’s what I wanted to express in my images.

Hello everyone, I’m Marko Stević. Very happy to be here and to share my work with you.
I graduated from ECAL (Lausanne University of Art and Design). I can describe myself as a social and urban photographer, mainly practicing documentary-type photography, focusing on humans and their environment with a structured and graphic style.
Working mostly in series, with images taken over several months or even several years, I like to explore different themes, such as those I’m presenting to you, like the irony of our society, the passage of time, markets around the world or respect for trees in urban environments.
The common point between these four works is the research for universality with my images.
