What happens when two departments decide to redesign a space together? 🌟 Today some insights into “ReThread. Co-Designing the TKD atelier space” a collaboration in between space&design strategies & @textil.kunst.design at @kunstunilinz !
 After spending the winter semester planning, collecting and designing together, the week between 13–21 of March was when the project and ideas developed finally came to life! 
Hands in materials, tools on the table, ideas becoming actual things. Two departments, one atelier, and the will to re-shape a space by the people who live in it. Students from space&designstrategies and Textile·Kunst·Design worked side by side to re-design the common Atelier in Domgasse inside the TKD faculty! Sewing, building, welding, flexing, testing, rethinking, and building again. Re-used materials became new structures, empty corners became functional spots, and strangers became collaborators by making something together! A semester of groundwork led to one intense week of making, and that week is now leading to so much more. The atelier is still being transformed and the process is still alive! 🌟

Biennale Urbana (@buurrb ) | ‘Fading Grounds’ | 10–29 August 2026 | Fortress Hohensalzburg, Salzburg, Austria Fading isn’t loss. It’s transition. A moment when forms, roles, boundaries, and meanings lose definition and something new can emerge. This workshop doesn’t mourn what’s disappearing. It investigates uncertainty as a generative condition. Fading becomes a device spatial, material, relational from which new forms of coexistence and commoning take shape. What you’ll do: → Act collectively in public space through temporary spatial interventions → Sense the spaces where certainty dissolves and relations emerge → Engage with different contexts, materials, and public programs → Inhabit what is fragile and ephemeral → Practice attunement and care through individual exploration and collective experiment → Ground commoning through situated practices and shared actions Three weeks of dialogue, reflection, and spatial negotiation including the possibility of an immersive outdoor experience ->What to bring: Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, weather-appropriate clothing, rubber boots, sturdy shoes, headlamp/flashlight, work gloves, backpack, personal toiletries, water bottle. This is design as a relational act. Space as continuous negotiation. Fading as common ground. As part of the two-day program of the Lisbeth Sachs Convention — which included an introduction and tour of the Pavilion by Annexe, a reading session in collaboration with e-flux Architecture, and the book launch of Lisbeth Sachs – Animate Architecture edited by Rahel Hartmann Schweizer — Biennale Urbana (BUrb) contributed with a walk across Sant’Erasmo, featuring performances by Emma McCormick-Goodhart and "Calling the Operator" by Axelle Stiefel & Octave Magescas. The walk across Sant’Erasmo unfolded as a way of inhabiting the intertidal terrain — uncertain soils, shifting sands, and fragile salt marshes that expand and contract with the six-hour rhythm of the tide. Moving through the island and pausing within its cultivated fields, the walk invited participants to sense how ground and water continuously redraw the thresholds of habitation, attuning to the tidal excursion of the day. It became both a collective attunement and an embodied cartography of the lagoon. all images ©Emma Kouassi
