Monday we went in for a routine appointment with his aero digestive team and when they were taking his vitals they noticed his O2 was low so we were sent down to ER for X-ray and labs. Long story short we are still here (Thursday) he's still on o2 but he is still his normal smiley self. I've mentioned on previous occasions where we were here for surgeries or procedures that we would really like to have suction or O2 at home and be able to monitor his O2 and heart rate at home but I was always brushed off or told no. "If you think he needs it he shouldn't be going home." Quote from a doctor. I tell them the rides up to Boston are so stressful on him especially now since once his feet touch the center console it sends him into his postures (hence trying to get the new van) and getting stuck in those postures makes it harder for him to breath. So now since this episode we're getting the supplies finally sent to our house. But they are still thinking it might be an atypical pneumonia? Surgery went well but the being awake part after was pretty rough. His o2 was dropping really low and having a rough time getting his breath back. They were trying to get him to cough up all the gunk that's left over after having anesthesia but he doesn't exactly cough on que and everything they were trying wasn't working so they ended up doing a CPAP. I guess what happens is sometimes with kiddos that have low tone the bottom parts of their lungs kinda collapse and they just can't catch up to it so the CPAP helps open it back up. His o2 started evening out after that and he basically slept all day.
