On April 16th, come hang with the Space Heaters (Michael Hartigan, Pat Markley, and Dan Ryan) as they weave groovy renditions of their original material and favorite jazz fusion tunes.
The Space Heaters are comprised of three of the Burlington scene’s long-standing fixtures on their instruments. @hartiganmusic aka “The Minister of Harmony” leads the way, deftly handling both melodic and harmonic duties on keys and synth. @pattyboyplays bridges the gap between rhythm and melody with his intuitive electric bass playing. And drummer @busdriverdan drives the musical bus, with an unmatched passion and sensitivity for exploring his kit’s possibilities. There are big ears in this group; come hang with us and hear what we hear.
Free show. They hit at 6:15pm.
We spend so much time working on crazy stickings, complicated grooves, our speed, how loud we can play. Sometimes the most basic ideas are the most important ones, and the idea of how we move from surface to surface on our drumset is often overlooked. Make it smooth! Try it sloooooow then gradually speed up. Let me know how it goes 😎

@uvmsoa has a pretty nice house kit these days!!! Psyched to be a part of the great Rob Duguay’s @songevity_ concert tonight! 7:30pm hit! See you there 😎
Trying out this Brazilian jazz groove I discovered on the page of the great @isacjamba — we’ve never met so I hope it’s ok I’m tagging him for credit here. He says it’s a basic Brazilian groove. It gave me fits haha…I will keep practicing and come try again soon.
🚨NEW IDEA🚨 — a 6-stroke roll…with a kick drum replacing the last snare note…rhythmically transposed…to try and sound like one of the greatest to ever do it in the jazz world 😬😬😬. Super simple, right? Hope this video helps break it down for you. Want to learn it? DM me for a lesson!!!

A little easier speed/technique exercise for you if the single-stroke endurance exercise I shared recently isn’t doing it for you. That exercise is a total slog; this one is simpler and just as effective. Enjoy!!!

@pleasantranch (and everyone!) — here ya go 😎. Joe Morello’s “single stroke endurance” warmup that I do (almost 😬) *EVERY DAY*. You can do this with sticks on a pad, on your drumset, on a pillow…anywhere (within reason, haha). *START SLOW*. Keep everything light and strive for clean, even notes. Let me know what you think!
*FIRST DRUM POST OF 2026 🤯* WHAAAAAT
I am abnormal human whose dream life would be (aside from basic human needs like food/water/sleep/etc) to sit in front of either the tv or the ocean/a field/the woods/etc and chop out grooves and sticking patterns ALL DAY. Over and over. Again and again.
If you (like most people) dread the idea of repeating the same exercise over and over again, this video is for you 😎.
