This iPad x MPC combo is crazy!
Nerd alert 🚨 lol..I chopped these drums off a 45, laid em out in Koala Sampler, sent em through my Moog Mother 32 and then into the Boss SP-303, and finally into the MPC3000 where I sequenced everything (except the synth lead). There’s an additional instance of Koala with the sample chops, that was also sequenced on the 3G. I love the process so much and sometimes I learn some things along the way. 13 minutes and 5 seconds of straight up FUNK. Nice 1982 Canadian press 12” single that plays at 45rpm and stretches out to mere millimeters away from the actual label. Great picture sleeve that relates closely to the Gap Band IV LP from where this song originates in a much shorter form. I love when records are made like this. #TheGAPBand #1982 #FUNK

Point Breeze. Frick Park. I needed this visit. Walk the neighborhood. Embrace the energy of a City that has influenced/inspired me so much in my High School days at Brighton High School. Beginning with @wizkhalifa and “Say Yeah,” I never would’ve thought back then that this city would become an integral lifeline. 🎶 Turn It Upstream Artist Spotlight: Buscrates
A musician, DJ and producer, @buscrates has been making music in some form since practically before he could walk and started rocking parties behind the decks since he was in single digits. His journey, initially inspired early on by the music emanating from his father’s sound system, has grown to encompass many experiences as he has honed the two major poles of his musical inspiration: classic boom-bap hip-hop and the endlessly colorful world of synth-crazy post-disco boogie-funk. Both of these strains are heavily informed by his notorious record collection.
Crates’ new material is a natural progression from the sounds he has devised over the years, achieving a new level of ready-for-prime-time sophistication that manages to surpass even his previous efforts. It reflects the increasingly global perspective that has come with the increased time on the road he has experienced as demand for his unique and distinctive approach to sound and groove construction grows, not to mention the confidence that has come as a result of his interactions and collaborations with such notable figures as home-state hero DJ Jazzy Jeff, Dâm-Funk, Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y.
