After his passing I thought my missing him would grow less painful and profound as I aged. I’m learning just the opposite is true. The hole gets bigger both wider and deeper. But recently a whole new dynamic is opening up, and that is the realization that he still really lives on inside me. And the more I cherish my memories of him and HONOR him, the more I’m able to feel him with me. I love and miss you, Dad…ALWAYS! Happy birthday!
My nephew has left this time and space. He was 21. The one whose head is closest to the heavens? that’s him. I met him when he was 6 months old while he was belly down and napping on the floor. I both grieve and give thanks for the fact that he passed while at his peak. He found a place where he truly belonged both in work and among peers. I will miss him forever.
Good bye beautiful boy! Don’t bump your head on that golden gate.

Most days it’s easy for me to feel you still here in some ways w us, laughing loving and making the day sinfully more fun. Some days I’m more or less indifferent cuz I learned what life was like wout you around as early as I can remember. And some days like today I swear I can see you and feel you and smell you and hear your voice in the room w me, and it fills me up w the greatest joy and the deepest ache. I’ll take em both every day until I see you again. I love you, dad!
