The Bride knew it had to feel regal… 🤍
Because aso-oke, in itself, carries that weight,the heritage, the presence, the identity of a Yoruba bride.
But even within that, she wanted something that felt like her.
Not the regular iro and buba…
so she reimagined it ,
a blouse to hold the essence of the buba,
and a skirt to echo the iro.
Gen Z bride… clock it.
The process wasn’t simple.
In fact, it was emotional.
Because designing for yourself is different , you feel every decision a little deeper.
Even the sleeves changed along the way,
adapting to the nature of the fabric until it all felt right.
The colour came from somewhere personal
her love for blue,
reimagined through the depth of the ocean.
Chantilly and mesh, layered subtly into the aso-oke.
Rock-like beads, placed with intention, like pieces of the ocean catching light.
And somewhere within them,
a single love-shaped bead
because she is, at heart, a lover girl.
Nothing random.
Everything felt.
Because this wasn’t just tradition…
it was her, fully expressed within it.

From consultation to final fittings, the experience was truly out of this world.
Being the client this time felt so different and so sweet.
My reception dress was made by someone I deeply admire more than a fellow designer, a mentor, a big sister, and someone whose grace I have always respected.
Every fitting, every detail, every little adjustment made me feel seen, celebrated, and deeply cared for. In the middle of all the wedding excitement, this felt like such a special reminder of love and kindness.
She gifted me this dress with so much love, and that gesture will stay with me for a very long time.
I wore more than a dress, I wore love, support, and years of inspiration.
