👑 ROS AND WALTER MAKE HISTORY 👑 Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo have performed superbly all week to win a record third @bhorsetrials title. Everyone in the sport of eventing is so proud of you, @@ros_canter_eventing , and in awe of what you and this exceptional horse, owned by Archie and Michele Saul and bred by Lordships Stud and Pennie Wallace, have achieved. Three Badminton and two Burghley wins - can they add a World Championships victory to that roll of honour in Aachen this summer? The Burgham team is also very proud that, back in 2018, Lordships Graffalo had his first-ever international run in the CCI2*-S here, finishing eighth. If you look at today's Badminton podium, second-placed Falco (Tim Price) and third-placed Annaghmore Valoner (Harry Meade) have also competed at Burgham, gaining valuable experience on the path to the very top of the sport. We love that our event, in its beautiful Northumbrian setting with its excellent cross-country courses and footing and its relaxed, friendly atmosphere, is valued by the very best riders in the world and plays a part in the education of these incredible horses. 🌟 🐴 Tickets are now on sale for Burgham (29 July-2 August)! Buy now at amazing, affordable early-bird prices. Burgham, which celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2026, always attracts a huge entry of the sport’s most famous horses and athletes, as well as many grassroots riders keen to take the chance to compete alongside their heroes. Burgham also forms the final leg of the big-money Northumberland Challenge, sponsored by Matfen Hall, An Eventful Life and NIS Group Ltd. Any rider who can win the CCI4*-S, CCI3*-S or CCI2*-S classes at Belsay, Alnwick Ford and Burgham will carry off a bonus of £5,000 (CCI4*-S and CCI3*-S) or £4,000 (CCI2*-S). This year Burgham’s cross-country courses will have a new layout and a fresh feel, with Andrew Heffernan appointed as cross-country course-designer of the feature CCI4*-S class. Andrew will work alongside David Evans, who will continue to design Burgham’s CCI3*-S, CCI2*-S-level and national intermediate, novice, BE100 and BE90 courses. We also host Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse qualifiers, a Thoroughbred and Ex-Racehorse show and unaffiliated showjumping. A NEW ERA FOR THE NORTHUMBERLAND CHALLENGE As we look forward to the 2026 British Eventing season getting underway this week, we are excited announce a new-look Northumberland Challenge, which unites the three international horse trials in Northumberland - @belsayhorsetrials , @alnwickfordequestrian and @burghamht . To be eligible to win the prize-pot, athletes must enter the same class at each event, but can ride a different horse each time. For the first time, the big-money series will operate across CCI4*-S level, and any rider who can win the CCI4*-S classes at Belsay (15-17 May) and Burgham (30 July-2 August) will claim a £5,000 bonus. This is being sponsored by one of Northumberland’s finest five-star hotels, @matfenhall - also Belsay’s official hotel partner. Leading British rider @piggy.march achieved the Belsay-Burgham CCI4*-S double in 2025 on Jayne McGivern’s irrepressible grey stallion Halo - will she pull it off again this year? This year the popular eventing news platform and cross-country filming company @aneventfullife2007 are supporting the CCI3*-S part of the Northumberland Challenge, and any rider who wins all three of the CCI3*-S classes at Belsay, Alnwick Ford (26-28 June) and Burgham will receive a £5,000 bonus. And engineering and manufacturing company N.I.S Ltd - long-term supporters of this innovative series - are sponsoring the CCI2*-S Northumberland Challenge. Any rider who wins all three of the CCI2*-S classes at Belsay, Alnwick Ford and Burgham will take home a £4,000 bonus. Happy retirement, Ballaghmor Class! As announced in @horseandhound today, the brilliant Ballaghmor Class will enjoy his retirement from eventing at his rider @olivertownendofficial 's yard. "Thomas" has been a legend of the sport. As well as his four CCI5* victories, Thomas has had an extraordinary record here at Burgham, winning our CCI4*-S twice (2018 and 2020) and finishing second three times! We will miss seeing him in Northumberland - thank you to Thomas, Oliver and his owners, Karyn Shuter, Angela Hislop and Val Ryan, for so many happy memories.
