The SL58 chair was designed in 1958 by Léon Stynen for the World Expo in Brussels. Built on the principle that form follows function, the chair combines a veneered seat with elegant bent steel legs, creating a design where every detail serves a purpose.
Although Stynen was primarily known for his architectural work, the SL 58 became a rare and iconic piece within his oeuvre. In 2016, Bulo reintroduced the chair, carefully adapting its proportions to contemporary ergonomics while remaining faithful to the original design.
Tania Wolski, granddaughter of Léon Stynen continues his legacy through research, publications, and collaborations that highlight his architectural and design work.
Today, the SL 58 lives on through new materials and interpretations, including the SLL 18, a lighter version designed for outdoor use. A chair that proves true design remains timeless.
Located in an exceptional heritage building on a historic site in Sint-Truiden, this office combines the original character of the building with contemporary functionality. Clean lines create structure and an efficient workspace layout, while soft materials shape a warm and harmonious working environment. The furniture by Bulo acts as a natural extension of the design, allowing architecture and interior elements to blend seamlessly into a comfortable and coherent workplace.

We’re proud to have collaborated with Lievois Interieurarchitecten and BEO ARCHITECTEN on this project. It features our Senses boat meeting table in WoodSaver® and Senses round meeting table in Olive Terrazzo designed by Nathalie Van Reeth, the H2O workbench in WoodSaver® designed by Bataille & Ibens and the VVD High Back Chairs and VVD Slim Chairs designed by Vincent Van Duysen.
In this project, the Senses table and H2O table were selected in WoodSaver®. WoodSaver® is Bulo’s award-winning circular innovation, developed in collaboration with Bosq to rethink wood waste. Using a precise finger-jointing technique, shorter veneer pieces are seamlessly joined into high-quality panels, identical in look and performance to traditional veneer.
This dry, environmentally friendly process increases material efficiency by up to 25%, reducing waste and the need for new logging. Recognised with an SBID Award for Product Innovation, WoodSaver® reflects Bulo’s commitment to sustainable design, combining craftsmanship, innovation and a future-focused approach.

ECO DAN COLLECTION
First introduced in 2014, DAN is characterised by its ladder structure and its sense of rhythm and balance. With the ECO DAN collection, the focus shifts toward material choice and environmental responsibility, marking a new phase in the evolution of the collection.
This collection introduces coffee tables and revisits existing DAN pieces, including meeting tables, racks and seating. These elements are presented in a carefully selected range of new colours and sustainable material finishes, developed to extend the collection’s relevance across both work and living environments.
The emphasis lies not in altering form, but in refining what already defines DAN. Through updated finishes
and responsible material decisions, the ECO DAN collection strengthens the principles of longevity, adaptability and durability.
