Can you rip an Ash Slab? We had two massive 4.5 metre long Ash timber slabs to cut… and only one chance to get it right. No pressure 😅 Nerves were high, the slabs were super f*^%# heavy, and it took seven of us just to lift them into place — but Drew absolutely nailed the cuts to perfection. These beauties are becoming custom bench seats under the pergola and we already know they’re going to be something special.

Before we moved forward, we started from the ground up — literally. Every Canberra red brick has been hand laid, carefully edged, compacted, and finished with intention. With the paving complete, the new garden beds are now in place and ready for planting — setting the scene for this home’s next chapter. Landscaping first meant a clean, mud-free site, smoother access, and the perfect foundation for this heritage Canberra home. And the brick pattern reveal? 🧱 HERRINGBONE 🧱 Massive thanks to Rob and his team at @statementlandscapes for bringing this vision to life — a dream result for our clients.

Backyard clean-up underway so we can say goodbye to mud and hello to something very special taking shape. Pallets of beautiful Canberra Red Bricks from @thebrickpitt have arrived, and the crew from @statementlandscapes are on site, prep is underway and they will start laying a pattern that will make this build truly unique. Any guesses on the design? 🧱👇

Demo is complete ✅ Carports gone. Old linings gone. Metal sheeting, outdated details — all gone. What’s left is the bare shell and one old fireplace that deserved to stay for what’s to come. Now she’s ready for framing and creating space for what comes next... Onwards. Builder @builtbydrew Architect @kathryn_packard

PROJECT UPDATE | CANBERRA COTTAGE RESTORATION We’re bringing this old Canberra cottage back to her original glory — honouring her beautiful heritage style while giving her the full makeover she deserves. Right now we’re in the before stage: removing carports, stripping back metal sheeting, and letting the natural light pour in. She needs cleaning up, opening up, and freshening up to become a spacious, beautiful and comfortable home for the family to move into. Stay tuned as our crew transforms this cottage into something truly special… Builder @builtbydrew Architect @kathryn_packard
