A major milestone has been reached at Flinders Medical Centre 🏗️
The redevelopment recently celebrated its official topping out, with the new Acute Services Building now reaching full structural height.
With construction momentum continuing to build, it’s exciting to see this major health project coming to life.
Together with @mcconnell_dowell we are excited to announce the successful handover of the new Central Plant & Tunnel | Te Manawāora to our client, Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora.
Over the past four years, the project team has:
➜ Installed 110 foundation piles between 7.5m and 26m
➜ Constructed a 240m-long tunnel
➜ Delivered a five-storey, 5,230m² plant building
➜ Installed new hospital services and equipment, and decommissioned existing services
Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering this complex and critical healthcare infrastructure project.

Creating Better Together.
What does “creating better together” really mean at Built Environs?
It is how we back each other. How we partner with our customers. How we deliver projects that shape our cities and improve lives.
Here’s what “creating better together” means to our people.
"There's got to be a better way."
That's where it started for @built_environs
Paper forms filled out on site. Scanned and emailed to someone in the office. Filed, maybe. Chased, definitely. And by the end of a project, a quality record that was supposed to tell the full story of a complex build had gaps in it that nobody could fully account for.
This is how construction has managed quality for decades. A piece of paper at the end of the day to say the work is done. Limited evidence. Limited oversight. And when something goes wrong, very little to show for it.
For Lex and Varun, that wasn't good enough anymore. Not on a hospital. Not on a school. Not on a stadium. Not on a project like the @richmond_fc Punt Road Oval Redevelopment, where the standard of the work reflects directly on the people who built it.
So they changed the way they do quality. And what happened next is worth hearing in their own words.
"Construction hasn't had this level of visibility and access to real-time quality data. Ever before."

This week our Victorian team rolled up their sleeves at our Richmond office, preparing more than 1,000 sandwiches for @eatupaustralia to support children experiencing food insecurity.
With 1 in 3 students now needing an Eat Up lunch, the demand is growing fast.
Thanks to our team for turning less than an hour into 1,000 lunches and a real impact.

We heard 2016 is trending 👀
So we’re throwing it back to a project that helped transform healthcare for Adelaide’s north-east.
In 2016, we were on site delivering the Modbury Hospital Transforming Health project 🏥
The upgrade strengthened hospital infrastructure and consolidated services for the local community, including:
- SpARC rehabilitation centre with gym, hydrotherapy pool and therapy garden
- Level 3 ward refurbishment, increasing rehab beds from 20 to 52
- A new covered linkway connecting old and new facilities
All delivered in a live hospital environment, under budget and with early handover
A 2016 throwback with a legacy that still matters. ✨
As last summer rolled in, Fawkner Leisure Centre reopened its doors. ☀️
Reimagined with new indoor and outdoor pools, wellness spaces and upgraded amenities, the fully electric facility was ready just in time for the 2024/25 summer season and a season of community enjoyment.
A year on, it’s great to see the community continuing to enjoy the facility.
