Released in 2002, Flip Skateboards: Sorry is widely considered one of the greatest skateboard videos ever made. Created by Geoff Rowley, Arto Saari, Tom Penny, Ali Boulala, and the rest of the legendary Flip team, the video mixed raw street skating, huge gaps, chaotic slams, and unforgettable personalities with polished editing and iconic music choices. Tom Penny’s smooth style and Arto Saari’s massive rails became instant classics, while Ali Boulala’s reckless approach gave the video its dangerous energy. Sorry helped define early-2000s skate culture and pushed skateboard videos into a more cinematic, high-impact era

Sheep Shoes was a short-lived skate shoe brand launched in the mid-’90s under Sole Technology, the company behind etnies, éS, and Emerica. The brand stood out for using mostly synthetic, animal-friendly materials at a time when skate shoes were dominated by bulky suede designs, giving Sheep a unique identity in the skate world. Even though the company didn’t last long, it developed a cult following through its quirky style, underground image, and team riders like Ed Templeton. Today, Sheep is remembered as one of skateboarding’s more experimental and ahead-of-its-time footwear brands.

Mark Appleyard is one of the most respected skateboarders of his generation, known for his powerful style, massive pop, and effortless technical skating. The Canuck shredder earned Thrasher Skater of the Year honors in 2003, cementing his place as one of skateboarding’s elite. Decades later, Appleyard still rips with the same smooth style and consistency that made him a legend in the first place

Virtual Reality by Plan B Skateboards helped define the progression of early 90s street skating. Featuring legends like Danny Way, Mike Carroll, Pat Duffy, and Rodney Mullen, the video pushed tech skating, massive gaps, and polished production to a new level. Danny Way’s huge airs and Pat Duffy’s raw handrail skating became especially influential, while the editing and soundtrack gave the video a style far ahead of its time. An interesting fact: the title Virtual Reality reflected how unreal the skating looked in 1993—many skaters genuinely thought the tricks seemed impossible when the video first dropped.

He also co-founded Forum Snowboards, a brand that helped redefine street snowboarding culture. Interesting fact: Peter Line’s influence was so big that an entire generation of riders copied his style both on and off the snow

Zero Skateboards: Misled Youth (1999) is widely revered as a raw, influential classic, defining the “gnarly” street skating era with massive handrails and gaps. Lead by Jamie Thomas, it features intense parts from Thomas, Jim Greco, and Matt Mumford, showcasing high-impact, punk-influenced skating that helped shape a generation’s style.
