A school coming to life in Senegal, built side by side with the community by buildOn students and alumni. What buildOn students learn through this work doesn’t stay in a classroom or end with a program. It stays with them, shaping how they show up in their communities, how they lead, and how they continue building long after they leave. Their service lives on in every place they return to and every place they help build.

Lasting change takes time, but it also begins with just one act. Ashley from Gotham Collaborative High School in the Bronx shared a powerful message at buildOn’s 2025 Gala, reminding us what youth leadership looks like.

Before and After in Farani ❤️‍🔥 In Farani, students once learned in conditions that could not fully support the needs of the community. So when families advocated for change, buildOn and @educationaboveall_eaa ’s Educate A Child program, with support from the Qatar Fund for Development, stepped in to help turn their vision of access to quality primary education into reality. In just 67 days, families contributed nearly twice the volunteer workday goal, with 1,972 women and 1,809 men helping bring the new school to life! Now, Farani has a space built not just for learning, but for the future students and families have fought hard to create together. #EducateEveryChild

The concert may be over, but somehow we’re still there every time we look through these photos. 🥹 A night full of music, community, and the kind of moments you wish you could replay all over again. All to help us expand access to education. Huge thank you to our Bay Area Global Hub Board members Camilla, Liam, and Kristen Andersen for helping bring this night to life.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who lead, uplift, and rewrite what’s possible. As our Senegal Country Director, Aby Sarr is helping break stereotypes and expand the vision of what mothers can achieve in their communities and beyond. Through buildOn’s programs, women are not only supported as caregivers, but recognized as leaders, changemakers, and forces for progress. Today we’re celebrating mothers who show the holistic power of a woman’s impact and continue to lead the way for the next generation. Thank you to the women in our buildOn community who nurture, lead, advocate, and inspire every day. 💐

Detroit Pershing High School seniors are leaving behind more than memories, they’re leaving a living legacy. The entire senior class came together to make it happen, planting 100 new trees that will grow alongside the city they call home, with support from @thegreeningofdetroit . A service project that will keep giving back long after graduation day.

@synchrony employees traveled to Senegal to build a school alongside the Loukouk community. Together, they stepped into a shared effort rooted in trust, service, and connection, building not just a school, but something that lasts beyond the experience. Recently named the #1 Best Place to Work For in the U.S., read our blog to see how this Trek reflects Synchrony’s culture – one grounded in real-world impact.
