We’re now accepting submissions for our 2027 Program—inviting bold, site-specific work in one of the Northwest’s most dynamic creative spaces. Building Five’s 2027 residencies center on the theme Germination.
Germination, the 2027 theme, marks the first phase of a three-year inquiry—focusing on emergence, growth, and the accumulation of ideas over time.
We are seeking bold, site-responsive proposals that fully engage the scale and character of Building Five. We encourage artists to think expansively—across volume, duration, and interaction—and to consider how their work can activate, transform, or reimagine the space. Proposals may include large-scale installations, immersive environments, performative interventions, or experimental formats that push beyond traditional presentation.

One bouquet, many perspectives. We invite you to donate your time and create an original piece onsite. Each artwork will be displayed and offered for sale after the event and during Open Studios to help raise money for our artist community.
We’ll provide flowers, paint, wood panels, and snacks — just bring yourself.
