We are pleased to share Building Block Etc., a continuation of the Building Block visual language — now reimagined as a curated brick and mortar shop of studio-made works and functional objects across home, art, and design.
Et cetera — from the Latin et (and) + cetera (the rest). A phrase that gestures toward an ongoingness. For us, it means not just what we make, but what we are aspiring towards.
BB Etc. brings together a synthesis of ideas: at our shop, you’ll find some re-issued favorites from the Building Block archive as well as a careful selection of objects by some of our favorite artists and makers from around the world. It’s a space for the everyday, the tactile, and everything in between.

* SOLD OUT* For our Spring Pop-Up this season, we’ve invited @bodha Scent Club. BODHA’s Scent Club is a guided fragrance experience created by founder Emily L’Ami that invites guests to explore scent through a slower, more sensory lens. Designed as both an introduction to perfumery and a moment of pause, the experience includes guided smelling exercises, exploration of fragrance families + raw aromatics, and shared discussion in an intimate setting. No prior fragrance knowledge is required, only curiosity and a willingness to engage the senses.
In this Scent Club, we’ll explore the theme of THRESHOLDS: Five ingredients from what must end, through the becoming, and into full bloom.
This is an in-person ticketed event hosted at Building Block Etc. in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, where you can also smell the full BODHA collection in-store. Tickets are limited and available in the link in bio.

We’re excited to share that our newly designed online shop is now live.
Since opening Building Block Etc. in October 2025, our focus has been on creating a collection in our physical space centered on material clarity and a careful study of form + use. A natural oil diffuser featuring charcoal and soil spheres set in a pinewood box, gently releasing fragrance while helping to purify the air and balance humidity. Part of a curated selection of apothecary items by @framacph , available for a limited time at BB Etc. from April 18 through May 17. Presented in tandem with Frama’s traveling exhibition entitled The Mechanics of Scent, located at our neighbor @marta.losangeles anteroom.
Our best selling Small Scalloped Plates are back in stock. Handmade for BB Etc. by @oomura_takeshi in Fukuoka, Japan. Each piece is finished in a muted food safe metallic glaze with hand carved scalloped edges, all one of a kind. Available online and in-store at BB Etc.
A little restock of Sideways Waxed Canvas Bags have arrived by Kyoto-based @kazumi_takigawa . Known for her utilitarian canvas bags and sculptural approach to the familiar form of the paper bag, Takigawa’s work carries a quiet poetry of material and use. Each piece is hand-dyed with coffee, tea, iron, and other natural pigments to evoke the tone of Kraft paper, then meticulously sewn and waxed by hand in her Kyoto studio. Available online and in-person at BB Etc.
