I will no longer be collaborating with Gardena Cinema. My role and the work I put into it meant a great deal to me. My level of commitment was not felt, and all my future programming plans would routinely fall apart or were completely dismissed. It simply became clear that the investment I had made, carried a different weight for me than it did with the so-called powers that be. In spite of all this, at the end of the day it comes down to the one thing that was never there and that was respect. Many of you have had my back, and I have had your understanding in the last couple weeks, thank you for that. I’ll still be around at the many other independent cinemas. So stay tuned.

FRIDAY THE 13TH TRIPLE FEATURE AT GARDENA CINEMA 🔪🩸 The calendar has spoken… Join us Friday the 13th at the historic Gardena Cinema for a brutal, bonkers, and gloriously over-the-top Jason Voorhees triple feature that takes the hockey-masked slasher to the strangest corners of horror history. We begin in the depths of the underworld with JASON GOES TO HELL, the wildest, most demonic entry in the series where Jason refuses to stay dead, no matter how many bodies he has to go through. Then we blast off into the future with the cult favorite JASON X, where our favorite unstoppable killer wakes up aboard a spaceship and proves that even in the year 2455. And we end the night with the heavyweight showdown horror fans waited decades to see: FREDDY VS. JASON! A dream demon vs. an undead slasher in one of the most outrageous monster battles ever put on screen. Three films. One night. One unstoppable killing machine. Grab your friends, bring your loudest screams, and experience the mayhem the way it was meant to be seen — on the big screen with a crowd. Friday the 13th Gardena Cinema 14948 Crenshaw Blvd, Gardena Because Jason never dies… and neither does a great midnight movie. 🔪

Saturday morning gets a little swampy at Gardena Cinema as Comic Book Church kicks off at 10:00 AM, a gathering for lovers of pulp, panels, monsters, and the strange magic of comic book culture. Come browse talk comics with fellow fans while digging through comic books for sale in the lobby. Whether you’re hunting for vintage treasures or just want to flip through some beautifully weird art, the congregation is always welcoming. Then at 12:00 NOON, things get gloriously gooey with a big-screen screening of the cult classic The Return of Swamp Thing, the wild, wisecracking comic book adaptation that proves superheroes can be slimy, romantic, and hilarious all at once. After the film, stick around for a special Q&A with director Jim Wynorski, joined by film historian and writer Pat Jankiewicz. Hear behind-the-scenes stories from the wild ’80s, and how this beloved Comic Book Classic came to life. Schedule: Comic Book Church – 10:00 AM The Return of Swamp Thing – 12:00 PM Q&A with Jim Wynorski & Pat Jankiewicz – Immediately after the film
