Join us this weekend for our next quarterly Science Slam at
@checkerspotbrewing . Register on our Eventbrite (link in bio)!
Local scientists will join us, including Tamaki Kobayashi, who will speak on "Rigor, Reproducibility, and Responsibility: 3Rs for the Betterment of Scientific Training." Learn more below!
🦠 "I was born in Tokyo, Japan. At 16, I ventured abroad to study in the UK, where I discovered a passion for science through collaboration with peers worldwide. This led me to earn a BSc in Biology and advanced degrees in Biomedical Science. Seeking broader impact, I earned an MPH, which launched a decade-long journey studying malaria in southern Africa. These experiences reinforced my belief in the power of science, collaboration, and community. Now, as Director of Community Relations at the R³ Center for Innovation in Science Education, I focus on fostering connections and creating an uplifting workplace culture. Outside work, I enjoy family time with my husband, daughter, and our guinea pigs, Buddy and Fuzzy, who keep me grounded and inspired."
🦠 "Since its launch in 2017, the R³ Center for Innovation in Science Education (R³ISE) has developed and shared innovative graduate-level programs, workshops, and resources focused on the core principles of open science and good research practice, namely, the “3Rs.” The “3Rs” refer to Rigorous research conduct, Reproducibility of scientific methods and findings, and Responsibility of scientists to society. In this presentation, I will highlight a unique program offered by R³ISE and share my thoughts on how its training resonates with my own experiences as a scientist."
