Two rising forces in the underground scene, Two Petty and BUGS, are making serious waves with @de_cleurb collective, carving out their own space in Naarm’s vibrant electronic music community.
Two Petty blurring the boundaries between sound and vision, Two Petty is a multidisciplinary artist creating immersive visuals base on the flow of the dance floor. Their sets blend percussive grooves and hypnotic rhythms, keeping the dancefloor locked in a deep, collective flow.
BUGG brings a seamless groove to the dance floor - a nod to house, funk, and global jazz he’ll whisk it all into an irresistible rhythm that’ll keep your hips in motion. Born in Aotearoa, he’s currently exploring how to weave culture and tradition into electronic soundscapes, sharing te ao Māori in ways that feel both accessible and joyful.
✨ Origins of Taonga Pūoro - A Gift from the Gods ✨
In the beginning, there was only Ranginui and Papatūānuku - Sky Father and Earth Mother - holding each other close in primordial darkness. Their children, the atua, separated them… and with this came light, life, and sound. Every sound in te ao Māori is alive 🌿 the shimmer of leaves, the songs of birds, the whisper of wind. Each carries whakapapa - a lineage that traces back to the gods.
Hine Pū Te Hue - atua of growth and balance. Her sounds are nurturing, calm, and healing.
Tāwhirimātea - atua of the winds. His voice moves through unseen forces, carrying messages from the spirit world.
Tangaroa - atua of the seas. His mighty calls travel across waves and through the depths, echoing the rhythm of tides.
Raukatauri - daughter of Tāne, atua of the forest, and guardian of flute songs. Her melodies speak of deep emotion and longing.
Papatūānuku - Earth Mother. Her heartbeat forms the rhythm beneath all sound. The pulse of life itself.

Sharing a piece of my North Star as I’m beginning this journey to learn and bring taonga pūoro into my music.
Here are a few kupu (words) that help bring this kaupapa to life:
• Taonga Pūoro - traditional Māori instruments, each with their own whakapapa (genealogy) and stories.
• Mauri - the life force, essence, or spark that exists in all living things.
• Kaupapa - a guiding purpose or values-based approach.
• Tūpuna - ancestors, those who came before us.
These are the pou (pillars) holding me steady on this path. 🌿✨

This is the start of a journey I’ve been dreaming about - weaving taonga pūoro into the music I make as BUGG.
For me, it’s about reconnecting with whakapapa, honouring my tūpuna, and exploring how these taonga can live in the music we dance to today.
It might come with a few hiccups and learnings along the way, but I’ll be sharing the process openly - mistakes and all. This kaupapa is about authenticity, mauri, and joy.
