𝗢𝗻 𝗔𝗶𝗿 - 𝗢𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 returns in less than two weeks, from 8pm on Friday May 22 to 8pm on Sunday May 24 (CET). This year we’re happy to introduce something new to our programme: 48 hours of radio art +6. We’ll be closing the festival with a special event at SoundHouse, a BUG Radio takeover to celebrate the end of 48+ hours of radio art, a moment to celebrate our community after the festival. Today and tomorrow it's REVEIL, the yearly 24 hour broadcast of the dawn chorus by soundcamp. On Bug Radio you can hear on the right channel, sounds from the dawn chorus in each time zone as the earth turns. On the left you hear a live broadcast from the "stilte gebied" - quiet zone in the dunes near The Hague. Except that there's also a military zone next door... very appropriate. listen at bugradio.org !!!

BUG Radio x SoundUP BUG Radio is teaming up with SoundUP to launch a series of regular monthly shows: live audio streaming from across The Hague. Our first event joins Reveil — a 24-hour +1 worldwide broadcast following the dawn chorus as the sun rises across each time zone. Early morning on May 3rd, our stream becomes part of the chorus. For this occasion, BUG Radio contributes a live stereo stream that places two simultaneous broadcasts in dialogue: a live field recording from The Hague in the left channel, and the full Reveil broadcast in the right — the dawn chorus traveling westward around the globe, from its starting point near Greenwich, converging at last with The Hague as one of the final stops before the cycle completes. This evening at 18:00 we welcome Harpa to BUG Radio with a live performance from Berlin: the first episode of his new monthly show XOXO. Live performance with modular synthesizer, employing radio artifacts and analog sound generators. As the radio show unfolds through various episodes, listeners are invited to contribute by responding to the broadcast and interacting in the creation of the performances. Harpa is a sound and light artist based between Berlin and Wismar. His practice revolves around artistic interventions through installations and performances. He explores the phenomenological aspects of sound and light, including their aesthetic, poetic, and semiotic attributes. His pursuit of wildness unfolds through performative interpretations and states of induced trance using modular synthesis, fostering a collective experience. Cuba. I should have been teaching art radio workshops at the university in Habana in Februrary. Instead the current US blockade, which is an aggravation of the illegal embargo, slowly made the country run out of fuel and electricity. Solar panels were installed so that I could go through with my workshop anyway, but the situation worsened by the day. In the end we were communicating every few hours to see whether I could come. And then the news that airplanes could no longer lift off after landing. Not knowing how to help, and the fear that the entire world was looking away kept me sleepless. Then I had a phone call from the Cuban Embassy and was invited to meet ambassador @evayelinasilva , which was wonderful. And I figured out what to do and how to help. Below a fundraiser for a solar unit for the @academiai_saber in Havana. So that the kids can resume their lessons. Any excess funds will be used for additional solar units or much needed medication by the @solidariteitsnetwerkcuba.nl . I am grateful to be working with musicians who understand what matters to me without many words. @bergenpetervan immediately assured the help of the @studioloosthehague Foundation, and @maggie_fly_ the involvement of our BUG Radio Project.
