The 6th BuffCo Summer Track Series is here!
As always, our time trials are name your price format (including $0) and open to all ages and all abilities.
At last year's Summer Track Series, we introduced an age category points system to create an individual grand prix over the course of the series.
This year, we've gone one step further, and we are trialling a new league system!
For juniors, they can race under their school name in the new BuffCo School League, while seniors can rep their home city or country in the BuffCo Hometown League.
Runners can earn "race" points for their team by placing in the Top 20 in their age category in each event. 1st earns 20 points, 2nd earns 19 points, and so on.
Each event is a "matchday" and the teams are ranked by the total number of race points earned in the event.
The teams are given "series" points based on their ranking on each matchday. 1 point for 1st, 2 points for 2nd, and so on.
At the end of the series, the team with the lowest series points wins (like cross country or golf).
You can read more about league rules and how the relays work in the event description when you sign up. Registration is open at the link in our bio!
See you soon 🐃🐃🐃

Our 6th BuffCo Summer Track Series kicks off next Saturday, 9th May with the 1,000m.
This year we want to offer some friendly, team-based competition to compliment our individual grand prix that we added to last summer's series.
Introducing the BuffCo Schools League - a new team league for students all over Hong Kong.
This is an unofficial, just for fun, series of middle distance time trials held in May & June.
For each event, you can earn points for your team by placing in the Top 20 of your age category or relay category.
Each distance is a "Matchday" and at the end of each matchday, the teams are ranked by all the points their runners scored. Each team is then allocated Series Points based on their Matchday rank (1 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, etc). At the end of the series, the team with the fewest Series Points wins the league.
There is no minimum or maximum number of runners per team, however only the top 3 from each team can score in the same category at the same event.
Categories are sorted by year of birth:
A: 2009 or earlier
B: 2010-2011
C: 2012-2013
D: 2014-2015
E: 2016-2017
F: 2018 or later
Our races are free/name your price - link in bio.
West Island will be the strong favourites on both the Boys and Girls divisions going in to this new Schools League format, can anyone stop them from sweeping the series?
Hope to see you there next Saturday for Matchday 1!

Ryan Robbie (AVOHK) was our Men's 36-49 Series winner last summer, in what turned out to be one of our most competitive leagues of the 2025 series.
We hope to see him back in action again next month at our 6th BuffCo Summer Track Series!
This year we are introducing a team league system, with students entering the BuffCo Schools League (we'll do another post about that soon) and senior and masters runners entering our BuffCo Hometown League.
We are proud of how international our time trials have been over the years, and we reckon adding some friendly, team-based competition is the perfect thing to make amateur middle distance racing even more exciting.
The series kicks off on 9th May with the 1,000m!

As we build up to our 6th Annual Summer Track Series, we'll take a closer look at the history of our time trials.
One of the more recent additions to our calendar, the 1,000m, is up first on Saturday, 9th May.
Our student leaderboards for this event are dominated by West Island runners, with 10 boys and 9 girls featured in our Top 15 all time lists.
This year's 1,000m will be just the third time we've hosted this event, so we expect plenty of runners to break onto the leaderboard on the 9th!
List of schools represented at our 1,000m time trials so far:
American International
Australian International
Canadian International

Discovery College
French International

7.5 laps around the track tonight!
Our final race of the 2025-26 BuffCo Distance Carnival is tonight's 3,000m.
Four heats locked and loaded, ready to see some PBs shattered!
The 3,000m has some of our longest standing BuffCo time trials records, with our first ever open time trials on 14th May 2021 seeing Andrea Cloarec and Jeff Campbell (both representing Gone Running/Joint Dynamics) set the Men's 18-35 and Men's 36-49 records respectively, as well as Ella Brown's (BuffCo) Girls U-18s record.
In November 2020, Jabez Siu (BuffCo) set the current Boys U-18s meet record of 9:06, and one of our oldest and possibly most impressive records still standing was set back in May 2019 - the Boys U-12s record of 11:37 by Tor Man (BuffCo).
Our age categories are set by year of birth, so if someone is looking to beat Tor's record in 2026, they'd need to be born between 2015-2017!

Last Friday we saw some more fast juniors put down impressive performances, most notably from another one of our up and coming stars Kyle Chu.
His 4:33.68 puts him 2nd in our all time list for the Boys 12-14 age category, just missing out on the record by 0.18s. He will have all of 2026 and 2027 to claim that title though!
Elsewhere Kian To (South Island) and Marcus Ling (BuffCo) earned 9th and 10th on the Boys 15-17 all-time list, and Ellie Yip (West Island) 8th in the Girls 15-17s.
Laurence Hyde (Kennedy School) also came close to an age category record in the Boys 9-11 category, just 6 seconds off one of the longest standing records at our time trials, set by Tor Man back in 2019.
And finally Callum Donald (BuffCo) moved up to 3rd on the Boys 6-8s all time list.
In two weeks our 2025-26 Distance Carnival concludes with the 3,000m. Join us on Friday, 20th March at Aberdeen track!
