Hood Tales was REAL. 🖤🔥 Huge thank you to Dennis Wilson, Korey Green, Shomari James, and Officer Romair Parrett for being honest, vulnerable, and willing to pour into our community. A lot of times people love saying Black men ain’t doing nothing or ain’t showing up… meanwhile this panel proved the complete opposite. These men talked about real life — fighting, grief, bad decisions, selling drugs, pain, growing up hard, moving from school to school — but they also showed what it looks like to NOT let your past define your future forever. Every single one of them is making impact in different ways through film, humanitarian work, entertainment, development, education, art, mentorship, and leadership. They’re fathers. Husbands. Creatives. Community leaders. And they donated their time to pour back into Buffalo and into our people. Buffalo really has some AMAZING people and stories here. We gotta stop acting like greatness only exists somewhere else and start uplifting our own more. If people can come from struggle, mistakes, trauma, and still build purpose and impact… then that means other people can too. What was one thing y’all took away from Hood Tales? 👇🏾🔥

Next week marks four years since the devastating 5/14 racially motivated tragedy that took the lives of 10 of our neighbors, injured three others, and forever changed Buffalo and our community. In the wake of that horrific day, the Buffalo Black Caucus was created to bring people together, uplift the community, and continue the work of advocacy, equity, healing, and empowerment across Buffalo. It was great to be with some fantastic partners in government and friends this morning at Canisius University to support Buffalo Masten District Council Woman Zeneta Everhart, the surrounding East Side community, and the Buffalo Black Caucus. Thank you to Zeneta Everhart, Project Mona’s House Kelly Diane Galloway, and everyone involved with the Buffalo Black Caucus for continuing this important mission and ensuring the lives lost on 5/14 are never forgotten.

The stories we tell shape the world we live in. For too long, Black communities have had to fight against narratives created by people who never lived our experiences. That’s why media matters. That’s why storytelling matters. And that’s why this conversation is so important. 🖤 MEDIA & THE MISSION How nonprofits use podcasting & media to shift public narrative This powerful workshop at the Buffalo Black Caucus will explore how organizations, advocates, creators, and community leaders are using media to educate, organize, inspire, and create real change. From podcasts and journalism to digital storytelling and community campaigns — this panel is about taking control of our voices and using media with purpose. Join host Jamil Crews and an incredible lineup of changemakers: ▫️ Sufana Wajed – Buffalo Toronto Public Media ▫️ Daniel Robertson – Say Yes Buffalo ▫️ Dejia James – Partnership for the Public Good ▫️ Madeline Little – Say Yes Buffalo Whether you’re a nonprofit leader, content creator, student, advocate, podcaster, entrepreneur, or someone who simply believes our stories deserve to be told correctly — this conversation is for you. Because media is more than content. It’s influence. It’s education. It’s advocacy. It’s power. 📍 Buffalo Black Caucus 🗓 Saturday, May 9, 2026 📍 Canisius University Student Center 🕤 Doors open at 9:30AM for registration 🎟 FREE to attend | Registration required 🌐

Money conversations change lives. And too many of us were never taught how wealth actually works. At this year’s Buffalo Black Caucus, we’re bringing together powerful Black leaders in business, banking, investing, real estate, and entrepreneurship for a conversation our community deserves to have openly. 🖤 FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT “The conversation about money and wealth building we all need to hear.” This is not just another panel full of buzzwords and motivation. This is real strategy. Real stories. Real access. Whether you’re: • trying to buy your first home • start a business • fix your credit • build generational wealth • understand investing • create multiple streams of income • or simply stop surviving paycheck to paycheck… THIS room is for you. Join host Kyria Stephens and an incredible lineup of leaders: ▫️ Shomari A. James ▫️ Tamika Murphy ▫️ Andrew Cheatom ▫️ Desireé L. Parker-Smallwood These are people who are doing the work, building wealth, creating opportunities, and helping shift the financial future of our community. Because financial empowerment is more than money. It’s freedom. It’s ownership. It’s options. It’s legacy. 📍 Buffalo Black Caucus 🗓 Saturday, May 9, 2026 📍 Canisius University Student Center 🕤 Doors open at 9:30AM for registration 🎟 FREE to attend | Registration required 🌐
