Buddy’s on Washington Ave just gets it.
Great food, solid wine, live music on a Wednesday, and an owner who actually takes the time to welcome you in. We went with toasted ravs (a St. Louis must), truffle fries that were hitting, a beer, and an espresso martini, zero regrets.
Whether you’re grabbing dinner after work or looking for a spot that can actually host a fun event, Buddy’s delivers. And yes… we’ll definitely be back here for future Block Club events.
As an added bonus: Block Club members get 10% off, just tell them we sent you.

This is just what Washington Avenue ordered and it’s one worth raving about! @buddyswinebar@washington_avenue
Buddy’s Bistro and Wine Bar is a spot you want to linger, sip, and savor, especially once you hear the namesake: it’s named after Buddy, the owners’ beloved dog. That alone makes me love it.
The star of the menu? The tower of food. It’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the taste buds. Piled high with an assortment of apps, it’s the dish to order for a table that wants to share, sample, and try it all.
The vibe is laid-back and stylish, the kind of place where you can dress up a little or roll in for a casual night out. We had so much fun exploring the menu and soaking up the warm energy of the space.
Check out their events. I love a spot trying to build community.
I found Buddy’s through @greaterstlinc restaurant week!

Wash Ave is Entrepreneurship
In the heart of the most walkable neighborhood in STL. Entrepreneurs willing to bet on themselves come to build businesses.
Multiple businesses. Multiple ideas. All rooted right here in the neighborhood.
Because Wash Ave gives business owners something valuable.
Foot traffic.
Density.
Residents.
Workers.
Visitors.
Energy.
This is a place where new ideas can actually grow.
Where storefronts become staples.
And where people come to create what’s next.
Wash Ave is where St. Louis builds.

We are open from 4-10pm tonight! 2 for 1 drink specials all night and full menu available. Bring your friends and family to celebrate the holidays 🎄 #happyhour #holidays #friendsandfamily #downtownstl
The holiday season is one of the most important times of year for local restaurants — and one of the hardest.
Between rising costs, thin margins, and fewer safety nets, many small, locally owned spots rely on this season to carry them into the new year. Supporting them isn’t just about where we eat — it’s about taking care of the communities we live in.
I get asked a lot if I’m compensated for sharing restaurants and bars I go to. I’m not. I don’t give a heads-up, and I don’t plan visits around content. I share places I genuinely love because I want to see them continue to exist.
The restaurants you see expanding often have investors or built-in resources. Many local owners don’t. For those who stepped out on their own without generational wealth or private equity, this work is brave, exhausting, and deeply personal — and sometimes you can do everything right and still barely break even.
So during the holidays, I try to give back in the simplest way I know how: by intentionally supporting and sharing small, locally owned places I believe in.
Here are a few locally owned spots I love: • @luvwoobar • @themonikerstl • @buddyslocal • @natashasginroom • @bloodandsandstl • @mollysinsoulard
As you’re giving gifts and making plans this season, consider supporting a local restaurant — grab a gift card, book a meal, or share a spot you love. Drop your favorites in the comments so we can keep the list going and keep our community strong. 🥂
