Drums. Beads. History in motion. Inside Iga Idungaran Palace, tradition came alive as His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu presided over a powerful chieftaincy title ceremony. Distinguished personalities were conferred with revered titles, including Chief Olumuyiwa Olorode (Olotu of Lagos), Chief Abiola Olufunke Olorode (Yeye Abiye of Lagos), Chief Tajudeen Okoya (Otun Aare of Lagos), Chief Rasheedat Olamide Okoya (Yeye Otun Aare of Lagos), Chief Dr. Oluyinka Abiodun Olumide (Aare Atunluto of Lagos), Chief Hon. Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas (Otun Iyalode of Lagos), Chief Olatunji Durosinmi-Etti (Boroji of Lagos), and Chief Mrs. Ibiyemi Durosinmi-Etti (Yeye Boroji of Lagos). A defining moment for me: my principal, Chief Honorable Kafilat Ogbara, was conferred the title Yeye Sewa of Lagos. Walking in with her and documenting that moment up close made it even more special. With the presence of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Chief Adebayo Kuku, the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, and other distinguished guests — this was tradition, power, and legacy in one frame.

🇳🇬 June 12 Reflections Yesterday, on Democracy Day (June 12, 2025), President Bola Tinubu honoured Nigeria’s pro-democracy giants—decades after many had passed. Names like Chief MKO Abiola, who paid the ultimate price for our democracy, were finally given their due. 🏅 MKO Abiola – GCFR (posthumously) The symbol of our democracy. He won Nigeria’s freest and fairest election in 1993 and died fighting for that mandate. His name is etched in the conscience of the nation. 🏅 Prof. Humphrey Nwosu – The man who conducted that historic election. His integrity, courage, and professionalism still set the standard today. 🏅 Ken Saro-Wiwa – Posthumously pardoned. The environmental voice from Ogoniland who was silenced by execution but whose legacy roars louder with time. Other honourees include Prof. Wole Soyinka, Sen. Shehu Sani, Femi Falana (SAN), Chief Olu Falae, Gov. Uba Sani, and Dr. Olisa Agbakoba. Each one, a pillar in the story of Nigeria’s democratic journey. In a country where we often celebrate entertainers, let’s also remember those who built the bridge we’re all walking on. ✊🏽 Patriotism is still noble. Nigeria first. Nigerian next. Nigeria always. Thank you, Mr. President. 🎖️ Those are heroes past. 👣 There are heroes in the making. While many jest and complain, some are building legacies. One to watch? MHR Kafilat Ogbara – walking her talk, serving her people, leaving her print. As a photographer and storyteller, I know a legacy when I see one—and I’m documenting one in real time. 📸🔥 #June12 #DemocracyDay #MKO #HeroesPast #NigeriaFirst #KafilatOgbara
