“The real turning point, Cline reflects, came as recently as 2018, when Mary Beth Babcock, owner of Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios on Route 66 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, reached out with a very specific request: She wanted a Muffler Man mascot, high as a two-story house, but this time wearing a 10-gallon hat and clutching a shiny atomic age rocket.
Buck Atom helped spark the revival,” Cline says, the brim of a straw hat shading his eyes. “People were used to seeing a cowboy or an ice cream guy, but this one had been seriously tweaked; it took things to a new dimension and showed the possibilities.” He pauses, then adds, “Mary Beth had a big hand in designing it. I think these giants are really just extensions of the people who commission them.”

💐 I miss my mom every single day. She passed away in 2010 at 66, and the older I get, the more I see her in everything I do.
💌 If it wasn’t for her, my stores wouldn’t look or feel the way they do. She had a gift for creating magic for people, making things beautiful, memorable, warm, and full of life. So much of who I am came from watching her, even when I didn’t realize it at the time.
☎️ As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned things about her that I wish I could tell her thank you for now. Relationships can be complicated, layered, imperfect, and still full of so much love. And no matter what, I loved my mom deeply. I wouldn’t be me without her. ❤️

We rolled into town for the Spring Tour and got the warmest welcome from the city, spent the afternoon checking out the goods from local artists and talking with Julia at @buckatomson66 about the amazing growth and cultural development happening in the neighborhood. But the real reason we are here- I finally made the long-awaited stop at @baloneymaroneys .
I’ve wanted to eat there since they opened, and somehow it still exceeded the hype. One of those perfect roadside spots that feels frozen in time in the best possible way. William was the coolest guy ever, gave me some swag and some tips for 66. Coming back to sure. We ate there and took some to go.
That’s the whole point of this tour. Finding the places, people, diners, garages, and stories that make the American road trip culture worth protecting in the first place.
Tulsa showed up for us in a big way.

It’s official: Street Coffee Bar is going to have a physical location right next to @buckatomson66 on Route 66! ☕️🤠
I’m still processing this and I can’t even begin to thank @marybethbabcock enough for believing in this vision of letting me bring coffee to such an iconic and historic Route 66 destination.
I can’t wait to see you there, and am continually grateful for all the community support! The goal is be open for walk up service starting June 1st!
