Chicago divisionals recap
Almost exactly 2 years ago I completely tore my ACL and meniscus. After the injury I don't think I'd ever been serious about coming back to comp climbing, and it was only until Telegraph Turnup last month when something clicked and I was like "I think I want another shot at this."
I ended up placing nowhere near what I expected, but this comp was really valuable in that it revealed some key problems in my training and mental preparation. It's been one month since I started systematic training and I'm taking some time to find my pace 💆♀️ but as far as comp prep goes, I want to train more styles and become gradually capable of performing near my training ability under pressure ✌︎' ֊'
Training aside, Chicago was truly truly a winter wonderland ❄️⛄️!! it's been 6 years since I last traveled for a comp and I've been really looking forward to visiting Chicago for a while now so I'm super glad that it was my first stop 🤩🌠

TELEGRAPH TURNUP ● OPEN FINALS - 4️⃣th
this is my comeback comp 🐣
i've always found it super embarrassing to compete out in the open when i'm not at my best. for the past three years I'd always been dipping in and out of climbing - either over training to the point of injury or not giving enough effort at all 🤕
i was rly surprised to make open finals - tbh my instinctive urge when i first heard the news was to ditch finals and go training at @bridgesrockgym 😶🌫️ i wanted to wait till i'm ready, train until i finally feel strong enough.
but i learned that u just gotta throw yourself out there 🌪💨 seeing where i stand right now gave me so much clarity and motivation to work towards getting stronger.
it wasn't my strongest performance, but i feel lIke i'm finally back. i finally broke out of the barrier i set for myself.
shoutout to @mosaicboulders for the wild set and the absolutely cracked lineup!! 🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️ i cannot describe how inspired i am to climb next to world-cup climbers.
and a big thank you to @allenduh88@max_yang_ for pushing me to compete🫸🥹 and @dijkstrawberry for the stunning photos 📸✨
oki back2wrk -->🥷
the only one i sent at today's comp 🐽💀
nowhere near where i wanna be. from now on im going to do more comp simulations, projecting, kiltering, tb2-ing, stretching, running in the morning, coordo setting, hangboarding, weighted pull ups, max crimp blocks, core w @allenduh88 , and way more bridges slab sessions
c u at divisionals
FIRST BIG MOVE SINCE ACL SURGERY!! this one took a buncha tries and has been annoying for a while so i'm super proud to finally send it! honestly i haven't trained in a few months to work on a project so atm i'm feeling a bit sloppy and slow. i'll def get this more consistent and less slime-like tho! I know i wanna land it on my right leg too but it feels risky rn so maybe one more week of conditioning ;)
Frankly I didn't climb a lot in 2024... so here's a few from 2023 to compensate😂🇯🇵
Back then i never posted my climbs because in my mind i always thought i could do better :(
And I didn't have a lot of sends to begin with... at some point i realized i liked hard, one-moves better and gave up on ever trying to link them altogether.
surprised these are still in my laptop lol
1- 🍏 slab 2Q @bpump_ogikubo i rly liked the first move
2- 🍋 1D @basecamp_iruma
3- 🥦 slab 1Q @bpump_ogikubo first half… i sent the last move later that day i swear
4- 🥝 last move on 2D @basecamp_iruma
5-💧my first and only 1Q send @bpump_ogikubo
Sucks I got injured earlier this year... but it isn't too late to train hard now #THEUNFINISHED
First week back to training after 8 months of rest and PT for my right knee👀🧗♀️after tearing my ACL and meniscus, I wasn't sure I can ever trust myself to climb dynamically again. I am slowly getting it back, learning to trust my right leg in step-ups and dynos🦋 it's visible from camera - and I feel it too - that my hips struggle to "stay in" the wall upon jumping on my right leg! Momentum feels a bit cut short but compared to a few days ago I'm feeling sooo much better hehe 😸
@allenduh88 thanks for the gym rec loooove the setting @bridgesrockgym
このジムに来た、日本に戻ってきたような気がします🤩 来春から東京に戻るので、しっかり練習して以前のように強くなりたいー☑️ さあ、トレーニングシーズン始まろう👀👀
"THE3" MIDDLE 🥈
Good to know that I suck.
