Rolling Stone AU/NZ is celebrating the 2026 Taite Music Prize with special In My Room sessions from the Auckland Live Best Independent Debut nominees.
First up is @bub.band , a genre-blending band from TÄmaki Makaurau led by Priya Sami.
Bubās debut album, āCanāt Evenā, enjoyed a stellar run last year, with several singles spending time in the SRN Top 10 and alternative charts; standout track āNew Amsterdamā made it into the APRA Silver Scrolls Top 20.

I wanted to thank IMNZ for this Taite nomination and to thank everyone who put in their time and talent to help me make this album real and release it!
Itās a struggle mate, first it feels super self-indulgent to ask anyone to play your sad sack songs and then itās like asking for favours left, right and centre to record them and put on shows and promote and see if people care!
I am so so so grateful to these wonderful people for helping me make āCanāt Evenā
Iām really proud of it and couldnāt have done it without you!
Thank you!
