Experience this moment with me from a 1,500nm delivery: Loreto, MX to San Francisco. We had just cleared into the United States and had weathered some brutal swell and weather on the nose for the past week. This brief pocket of calm was beautiful, and while I tried my best to find something clever to say for the camera, I ended up just soaking in the moment instead.
In 2025, Captain Ben sailed over 10,000nm for unique clients in New Zealand, Mexico, Bermuda and Alaska! Can’t wait to get back out there in 2026!

Stellar Sea Lions are the largest sea lion in the world and the 4th largest pinniped! And I said those two facts over 500 times this summer!
But seriously, I love pinnipeds and these guys are loud, dramatic, and smell GREAT. We are so lucky to have a larger haul out of 40-80 Stellar Sea Lions around Juneau, and these guys on the buoy have saved more than one of my slower trips.

Orca are hard to photograph. They’re quick in the water, rarely take to the air, and are a relatively rare sight in the waters surrounding Juneau.
Ever since I brought my camera on the water, I’ve been trying to make an image that accurately conveys the spirit, power, and awe that these animals command.
With this photo, I feel comfortable saying that I’m pretty darn close!
After three months of consistent whale watching, I captured this Resident female Orca breaching somewhere in the vicinity of Poundstone Rock.

This all-white ‘spirit’ otter is enjoying a tasty shellfish snack. She opens the mollusk by pounding it against a rock held on her chest. Such a fun and rewarding photo! Taking photos has elevated my naturalist game and personal enjoyment of wildlife watching. Beyond reliving the moment, I can zoom in and study photos, noticing small details I might have missed before.

I had an unbelievable time driving Zodiacs amongst the Ice at Dawes and Hubbard Glacier. The beauty and sense of grandeur is incomparable. I love seeing the Gray Seals pupping on ice floes, feels like a whole different world! Top 5 Alaska Experiences 💯
How to get into bed after a long day, demonstrated by humpback baby Match!
Match was first sighted on May 05 in Alaska, making her probably around 4 months old! Thank you Match for making many of my trips so memorable 🙌🙏🐋

Naturalist fun fact: Harbor Seals are just dogs in sleeping bags, and they like to haul out on these rocks during a big low tide.
