It is clear Cesar Chavez did not meet that standard and my heart goes out to the survivors who have endured the pain of these repeated betrayals and the pain of silence for so much time. Thank you to Dolores Huerta for sharing a side of the story that many did not understand the full scope of in the farmworker labor movement where Dolores, Larry Itliong, and Cesar Chavez were prominent leaders. This Tuesday is Primary Election Day and thousands of voters will be at the polls casting their ballot for who will represent them in their Congressional races in the November election. Thanks to undemocratic maneuvering by Democrat Patti Garcia, the lL-04 district has only one candidate on the ballot. Chicago DSA and Byron Sigcho-Lopez insist we can only fight fascism with Democratic Socialism, not machine politics.
