Spring is here and it’s the perfect time to get outside. 🌿🚴
BSC Group is helping communities turn underused corridors into safe, connected trail systems that support biking, walking, and everyday mobility.
Our latest Trail Design Project Spotlight highlights work across the region, including:
🚴Haggetts Pond Rail Trail – Andover, MA
🌊 Clippership Connector – Massachusetts DCR
🌿Naugatuck River Greenway – NVCOG
From planning and funding to engineering, permitting, and construction oversight, our team helps bring resilient multi-use trails from concept to reality.

Getting an energy project from concept to construction takes more than good engineering. It takes coordination, permitting strategy, and field support that can keep the whole thing moving.
At BSC Group, we help energy clients move infrastructure projects from design through permitting and construction. From overhead transmission lines and underground corridors to substations and laydown yards, our team helps turn complex challenges into practical, buildable solutions.
Here’s a look at how we support the energy sector:
⚙️ Transmission work: access design, stormwater management, and 3D corridor modeling for overhead and underground projects
📍 Substation and laydown yard support: grading and drainage, slope stabilization, septic design, and other site-focused solutions
📋 Permitting and coordination: helping teams navigate federal, state, and local requirements while keeping project teams aligned
🚧 Field support: staying involved during construction with RFI reviews and field changes to help projects stay on track

Thank you to everyone who came out for the ribbon cutting of DCR’s Neponset River Greenway Extension from Tenean Beach to Morrissey Boulevard! 🌱
BSC was grateful to celebrate this milestone alongside the partners, agencies, project teams, and community members who helped bring this important connection to life.
We’re honored to have supported the project’s design and to be part of a collaborative effort expanding access to safe, welcoming, and connected public spaces.

🌿 Advancing Equitable Climate Adaptation 🌊
Join BSC at the 7th National Adaptation Forum in Pittsburgh, PA.
As summers grow hotter, public spaces like bus stops are becoming critical points of exposure to extreme heat across Greater Boston. Wicked Cool Mystic focuses on addressing these challenges through equitable, data-informed design.
BSC’s Catarina Martinez and Mackenzie Morrison will present at the forum, sharing how a multi-municipal effort is translating climate data and community insight into actionable cooling solutions for urban heat islands.

🌿 A Special Wetland, Eversource’s Atlantic White Cedar Mitigation 🌳
159 Atlantic white cedar saplings were planted adjacent to an existing cedar swamp in Connecticut to offset impacts associated with a transmission line upgrade project. After three years, the saplings are thriving, natural regeneration is happening, and BSC’s ongoing data collection is guiding restoration strategies like deer exclusion, regeneration techniques, and climate adaptation. 🌱

Wetlands do a lot more than sit there.
They store floodwater.
They filter pollution.
They support wildlife.
They help protect communities.
This American Wetlands Month, we’re busting the myths and celebrating one of nature’s hardest-working systems. 🌿

BSC was proud to support the Everett Clean-Up and Plantings event alongside Clean Up Everett, MyRWA, the City of Everett, and all the volunteers who helped make an impact. 🌱
A special shoutout to BSC’s Caseylee Bastien, RLA, whose leadership helped guide the plantings and whose continued work supports Gateway Park’s long-term restoration.
Together, efforts like this help create a healthier, greener, and more resilient waterfront.

We’re headed to Worcester for the 2026 @massdot Transportation Innovation Conference on May 5 and 6. 🚗🚆
Looking forward to connecting with people across the industry, seeing what’s taking shape across the Commonwealth, and having real conversations about the work ahead.
At BSC, we know transportation is about more than plans and data on a page. It’s how engineering, planning, and ecological science come together to solve local challenges and support stronger communities throughout Massachusetts and New England. It’s how our projects improve the quality of life through connections, safe access and placemaking.
Stop by Booth #14 and say hi.

In honor of World Landscape Architecture Month, we’re highlighting a landscape type that does a lot more than people think. Today’s cemeteries are places for healing, reflection, ecology, history, and community open space.
Here’s what BSC Group’s LA team is working on across the country:
📍 Shrewsbury, MA: A park-like expansion plan that protects passive recreation while planning for long-term burial needs.
📍 Dayton, OH: A Chapel Garden designed for quiet healing and celebration-of-life gatherings, supported by a four-season planting strategy and a new 49-acre park like master plan.
📍 The Bronx, NY: Adaptive reuse at Woodlawn Cemetery, transforming underutilized internal roadways into new burial landscapes.
Behind the work:
👤 Tomer Rabinowitz is helping lead multi-phase projects that balance historic character with modern memorial choices.
👤 Ricardo Austrich, PLA, FASLA guides cemetery planning and design across BSC’s portfolio, aligning long-term operations with the visitor experience.
See you at@iccfa experience? From April 29–May 1, we’re joining the national dialogue on the future of memorial landscapes — focusing on sustainability and the evolving trends in cremation.

Small habitat. Big ecological value. 🌿💧🐸
Our team recently headed out for a vernal pool walk to learn more about one of spring’s most important habitats. Vernal pools are seasonal wetlands that provide critical breeding habitat for amphibians and invertebrates that rely on quiet, fish-free waters to reproduce.
It was a great day in the field spent spotting signs of vernal pool habitat, sharpening our ecological skills, and appreciating the seasonal life these wetlands support!

Many hats. Many habitats. One planet. 🌎💚
This Earth Day, we’re celebrating all the gear, grit, mud, masks, waders, hard hats, headlamps, and field days that come with being BSC. Every role looks a little different, but the heart of the work is the same: caring for the places around us and helping communities thrive.

Two projects. Two awards. One great night for BSC Group at the 2026 ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala. 🏆🏆
Our Miyawaki Forest Project earned a Bronze Award, and the DCR Neponset Greenway Project earned a Silver Award. 🚶♀️🚴
🌎 The Miyawaki Forest Project transformed urban sites in Worcester into dense native forests designed to reduce heat, improve air quality, and support biodiversity. It’s a powerful example of how small urban spaces can create lasting environmental and community benefits.
🌊 The DCR Neponset Greenway Project closed a key gap in the regional trail network, improving access and connectivity along Boston’s waterfront. The project created a safer, more seamless route for people walking and biking while enhancing the public experience along the corridor.
