It has been about two months of posting with purpose and…
I have come to learn how much intimacy is intertwined in the work I love to shoot. Naturally it has a clean aesthetic but it never just a boring clean picture of a subject. My goals have always been to bring a human organic chemistry into the work, yet while still being planned in a way. It is great to rediscover the why and what I shoot. Seeing these images of @itsveronicanicole , when we shot a lingerie spec, makes it so obvious to me it was about the fun and real moments.
Another inspired spec test shoot all with @shiseido in mind…
Being a lover of all beauty images, @shiseido_japan has been one of those dream clients of mine. Knowing myself as a person that Is a traditionalist in a way for beauty imagery. I have always been attracted to the style of shiseido and how they photograph their products. Let’s make this a note to shooting with them in the near future!
Models or photographers who do you want to shoot for?

When it’s a good team and set…
This image was a great example of when the team jives, the results have a great feeling. I love this image of @sandra because to me it exudes confidence and conversation. The story is all in her eyes, engaged in the present moment and nothing else.
I strive for at least one look preset that gets to this level. Making a safe, friendly, respectful, and fun space is a priority when I shoot. I believe our best photos are always at a moment of one’s truest self, even if it is just for one second.
Keep being you and keep living in the moment while you shoot, model, or make the team on your next shoot 🩷

I used to think beauty had to be… perfect.
Clean skin. Soft expression. Controlled everything.
But the images I keep coming back to?
They’re a little uncomfortable.
A little loud.
A little in-between something.
Like you caught a moment you weren’t supposed to see.
So now I’m curious—
when does beauty actually feel real to you?
The subject might be king, but lighting is its queen…
I used to believe that if the light was right, the image would follow.
After 10+ years, I’ve learned it’s more layered than that.
It takes a team. A series of small, precise decisions that build something iconic.
But light is still where everything begins for me.
Understanding how it moves, how it shapes, how it can be controlled— that’s the foundation.
Start with one light.
Learn it fully.
The rest comes easier after that.

Still relishing in that moment…
These are the test shoots/experiments I like to do. Having a style that speaks so heavily into a commercial realm. It is difficult to bridge into a world that is more editorial and free of selling. @ajong.y has beautiful hair, so we turned up the music and let the commercial fade.
I came to understand that no matter the content, my artistic core stays in the moment of that is right in the middle of action and inaction.

As a photographer, you’re always put in situations that surprise you.
Sometimes it’s the light. Sometimes it’s how effortlessly everything flows.
This time, it was the energy.
@cheerachoo locked into something unspoken—every pose felt like it came from the same place I was thinking from.
I’m realizing more and more that my work lives in those in-between moments.
The second after a breath, right before a shift… when something enters the space without being forced.
That’s where an image starts to feel alive to me.

What makes an image feel more than an image to you?
Now this is the part of the show that I…
Let y’all know that I don’t only shoot beauty in a studio. I actually enjoy getting out and finding unique art direction & locations driven by the sunlight. @jenniferlamb_ was so down to tango and did we dance. One of my favorite location shoots to date.
This show another note to how I like to light and shoot even on cloudy days. Just because it’s cloudy don’t me it ain’t pretty out there… Working to my locations advantages with lead lines and beautiful highlights to shadows. This day was giving brand campaign energy

I used to love getting a magazine, and there would be…
A page in the middle or back that had a perfume scent there that you could smell. The images would almost have a person almost nude or implied in some fashion. I loved how the light in those images made the human body so beautiful, yet highlighted a product like @chanelofficial so elegantly. Which would make me want to try the perfume myself later when out shopping.
This spec shot is my test at that very memory. Making an image that is implied but elegantly showing the perfume.

What is a fond memory you have of magazines before the majority went digital?
Saw a reference for this and couldn’t let it go.
Asked Sandra to step in—knew she’d understand the feeling without needing to say much.
It’s that in-between moment… like something is about to happen, but hasn’t yet.
Sandra brought her A game and we just held it there.
This is one of those images that just feels right to me.

It’s time to get creative…
I love a lipstick for not only its size but its power it has. I have always seen a good lipstick as a simple makeup item that is the last stroke of the paintbrush that would make everything come together or the only makeup on that would make that striking bold statement. So— you’ll see a lot of lipstick and lip colors & shades throughout my works.
The idea here was a take on the mystery shade. You see a model or someone on the street of NYC and want to know what shade that was because it was so perfect on them. However, you’ll never quite know. It was fun playing with photo diffusion material to get this effect.
More lipstick shades and tubes on the way…
What is your fav shade of lipstick and by whom?
