You were very convincing. Always two steps ahead of me. A great negotiator. You would have had Chocolate Chip Waffles this morning. I stayed in bed today just thinking about you. Scrolling pictures. Searching for surprises and things I might have missed. Studying the details of your face and hands. You were super happy. It’s hard for me not to get dark. I have a hole in this heavy heart of mine. Where have I been these last 8 years? Half dreaming and half awake. Floating in and out. Stay with me when you can Son. Love you completely and fully. Happy 16th Birthday—Dad

He would have been 15 Today! My boy was sweet and funny and charming and handsome. The true life of the party! He would’ve love to give you a hug and I know he appreciates you remembering him. When I was 9 years old, I thought Rick James was my father. I was so sure of it I sent off for a special Rick James edition of Right On magazine to get his address😂😂. I had hopes of meeting him and him asking me “Son where have you been all my life?!” I had these fantasies that my mother had actually gone to Buffalo New York had a secret affair with Rick. One day I even interrogated her about it. She thought I was crazy- I was😂Yep I wanted the Super Freak to be my dad. Then Prince came out. I was a Prince hater initially until I realized that he was way cooler than Rick. Prince got all the ladies without trying. All the girls in junior high had album posters of Prince on their bedroom walls and sang “Do Me Baby.” Prince could actually sing and dance. He had this crazy confidence and confidence is something I was missing as a kid. I grew up the first of four kids and 12 cousins. I had to fight all my battles literally. No big brother I could call to protect me. It was tough. One time I got mugged in East Palo Alto and had to fake like I had a big brother to keep from getting my ass kicked. I was convincing. I grew up wanting to help the entire neighborhood. Now I’m fighting a new fight worth fighting for—-fun🥳
Now I look at this picture and think -that’s the true me. That’s the kid inside who’s still dreaming about building clubhouses with his buddies and dancing to make the girls laugh. As life goes on things change - you get to know more about the world. When you’re lucky you find happiness, prosperity and love. One of the most important possessions is freedom of mind and heart. Free to know that everyone won’t agree with you and you’ll have a lot of people who actually resent your freedom. That’s ok. I’m grateful to be here. I had some really rough years. I still take great risks and even sometimes intentionally put myself in a corner forcing me to accomplish a goal which means closing a lot of doors on comfort. Freedom is expensive. Freedom is frightening at times. Freedom is lonely most of the time because almost no one I know is free. But freedom is the best gift you could give yourself. Happy Birthday to me. I’m free. Big shot out to all my people who supported me behind the scenes. I could never build PxVot without you. Way too many names to name, but you are all appreciated. Now let’s see where we can take it. Dragon fruit and pretty long beaches with a low hanging galaxy at night. You could almost pluck a star out of the sky. But I was standing next to one of the brightest ones the whole time. I’ve been blessed to have 25 successful years in this business. I’ve looked the other way so many times I can’t count. I can name more than 20 artists and or company’s who have not paid me through the years but I’m not hear to expose them. I’m here to enlighten where I can. I’ve directed more than 200 musics videos 40 commercials movies tv shows and more than 4 Billion streams on YouTube. I’m indirectly responsible for 100 million records sold 1.3 Billion dolllars of generated revenue. The most retired videos on BET. 7 #1’s on TRL. MTV & BET awards, Grammy noms. There is no hit song in the last 30 years without a hit video. Yet through the entire year of hip hop 50th my name was only mentioned by two artists Bun B and Killer Mike. Nor did they mention Hype Hunter Myers Marshall White Woodruff Robinson Boom X or the other visionary’s of hip hop. Our vision made the culture grow. So imagine how I feel when someone shows up trying to hustle me on behalf of a huge media company
