I had the chance to teach a sign painting workshop at @nike this week for an amazing team.
We packed a lot into one day, and I was honestly blown away by how much everyone accomplished. Watching a room full of people pick up a brush, slow down, and discover the magic (and humility) of hand lettering never gets old.
Brushes moving, letters taking shape, and plenty of beautiful imperfections along the way🪧🖌️

PORTLAND! I’M OPENING A STOREFRONT!
After painting dozens, maybe hundreds, of storefronts for other businesses, I’m finally tasked with painting my own🖌️✨
Ten years in the sign industry, I’ve traveled and explored the possibilities it has offered to newcomers like me. For a long time, old gatekeepers kept this trade small and held their knowledge tight, afraid that sharing meant more competition. I want to build something different. A space that doesn’t really exist yet, but I know is deeply needed.
When vinyl took over the sign industry in the late 80s and 90s, many painters hung up their brushes and bought a plotter. A visual decline followed for decades, and now most of the signage we see in our cities feels like an ocean of sameness, stripped of humanity.
Sign painting has already proven its resilience through one massive technological disruption. As we face another, Well Done Signs finds its purpose with even more clarity: Resist AI and vinyl.
As the old world crumbles and harmful systems fall, it feels like a privilege to help birth something new. A physical space where I can share my art and craft directly with the community here in NE Portland, which has been my home for the past four years.
A place to learn, keep this craft alive, and show up in service to our communities, in coexistence, not competition.
