I survived 2024 and all I got was this lousy supercut.
On a serious note, lots of good times and tough times were had, in ways too deep to unpack here. Instead, here are my favorite things that I edited into the video:
1. Having to bleep out @anitamurillo (1:18)
2. @sydsmallz11 bouncing in time to the music (1:35)
3. An act of nature (1:52)
4. Timing @emiyokoo ās champagne pop to the music (2:00)
5. The spray cheese supercut (2:43)
6. āSet it up, set it up!ā (3:09)
7. Timing @satowa.k ās āwooā (3:13)
8. Flag flyby (3:17)
9. Cuts to the beat (3:36)
10. Timing the high five by @ambibambigrams to the drum beat (3:41)
11. Timing Nicoleās āpeaceā sign to the beat (3:43)
12. Reversing the intro (3:52)

Not the perfect race I was hoping for, but Iāll take a 1 minute PR. And any race where you cramp on the correct side of the finish line is a good one; some things just donāt work out the way they should š„²
BUT lots of friends and lots of good races today š
Excited to clock out for the next couple of months.
Donāt you pray for me
I know my time is short
Iāve tried so many years
To be someone Iām not
Iām not saying
that iāve had it tough
Iāve got everything
But Iām scared itās not enough
You keep telling me to
open up my eyes
if this is salvation
itās so perfectly disguised
All your signs say
The rapture is near
But nobody told you
The end is already here
Slow down
Give yourself a break
Youāve misbelieving
the difference that you make
Iām not saying
You donāt have all the facts
It doesnāt matter how you feel
If they donāt love you back
18:16 and a podium finish š
Thus ends a nice little 5k training block, and now itās time to return to doing garbage long runs and getting injured š
Gravity Killed The Promise Land
cold winter days
walks in the park
light fading fast
chasing the dark
bluest of eyes
washed by the sun
eye of the storm
where you hide all the fun
you said
this was enough
if only we had
this moment forever
but i knew the truth
that summers donāt last
seize the day but itās gone anyway
all these days you cannot replay
paradise in the palm of your hand
gravity killed the promised land
home on the range
rarefied air
life of the dawn
wind in your hair
earthās greatest hits
this seasonās best
lingering warmth
clinging onto your dress

Iāve been managing some calf issues and overreaching in training the last month or so, and decided to run this conservatively as a workout. The plan was to run the first 10 miles or so at marathon effort and then pick up the last 3 miles but between the wind and rain and humidity, the reality was I spent the first 10 miles trying to lock in to some random pace and then picked up the last 3 miles to some other random pace š But such is the joy of running.
Grateful to be able to run in this great city again š
