april 2026: guatemala! both to celebrate @rishigrams and @adacruzt getting married, and to enjoy the most flattering light for photography that exists in the world, probably
20 (!!) years ago today, i pulled off the greatest heist in relationship history by convincing @lesleyjeannine that i was worth dating, and from all our moves (austin to dc to chicago to austin to dc to austin), from coast-to-coast road trips and traveling the world, through trauma and triumph, from renting micro apartments together to buying our house, from long-distance dating to being married for over 13 years… i’m the luckiest person in the world that i have her to share trashbag mcdonald’s nights and michelin star dining, to co-parent the world’s strangest felines, to watch unhinged television and movies, to enjoy high art and monster truck rallies (one and the same? who is to say), to share clever jokes and toilet humor, and to get the best advice from personally and professionally. i love you, weirdo. to the next 20 (and forever, if you’ll have me)!
i can’t believe you’ve been gone for two years. i miss you every day, alex. i take weird comfort in knowing your ghost is traumatizing the kittens every day, keep up the good work buddy, forever and always 😻
introducing derek and sazz, the bonded brother/sister pair we adopted! after four days, we have learned that:
*derek seems pretty dumb and is a big meower but he’s incredibly sweet
*sazz is about a pound lighter and much quieter and super sweet, but is definitely the alpha and has fierce hunter instincts
*both are hyper food-motivated which is an adjustment because alex (still miss you every day) was not
they are a lot to say the least, but they are beautiful, lovable monsters ❤️
i know it’s already almost a week into 2025, but i’m just now finishing processing 2024. i went to the democratic national convention. i walked across england. i fell in love with ireland. i saw the president of the united states honor the civil rights act. i made the decision to step away from a job i’ve loved for over 8 years to challenge myself to do even bigger and bolder things. i convinced lesley to return to the district of columbia for the first time in 4 years (!). i saw my brother graduate from harvard. i built a 3,600+ piece lego rocket. i got to 5 straight years of walking at least 10,000 steps consecutively. and i won an award.
it’s been a wild year, full of radical highs and deep challenges, but among the most consequential years of my life. salut, 2024.
