I will be playing and talking about some of my favourite records and people and things. Ranging from veritably uncool pre-Beatles Teenage Pop to scuzzy no-count noise, all things weird n trashy and transcendent, singular, perverse, HIGH meets LOW culture, rock n roll and poptastic and outsider and punk will be explored here. New gig announcement!! TIIKERI (Finland) Pogo till you die! Infectious Finnish punk rock sitting somewhere between classic ‘77 punk (think The Boys, Buzzcocks etc etc) and Lookout! records bands. Tiikeri scratches the same itch as listening to the Nerves or even Tom Petty – it’s nostalgic, classic and totally catchy power-pop, yet it somehow never loses its punk edge through tight riffs and frenetic delivery. FANKS to the people that yesterday came to the 2nd (sophomore if you like using new words that you don’t really need to use but it makes you feel nice etc) multitude of hard-shelled fruits that constitutes Bruno Bof’s Bagful Of Walnuts. There was ART from the excellent Bella and Frankie Paye - there was FILM and MUSIC and SPECTACLE and EXUBERANT AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION in the defeat and grandiose winning of various baddies and goodies and rainbows and greynesses etc via DARK FOX and then louche and poetic tales that smacked of Terry Thomas via Andrew Matheson and SO MUCH MORE! from Adrian Danaan and there was EVICSHEN a very nice lady from America that made an extreme noise via various objects / articles and herself that were almost SECRET unless you were TALL! Based in San Francisco, her sound practice is concerned with the physicality of sound and its relationship to the human body, eschewing harmony and rhythm in favour of extreme textures and gesture. Analog synthesizers are the backbone of her music but when performing live she plays self-made electronics, invented instruments, and even acoustic objects like a bull whip. Muddling the boundaries between performer and audience, stage and floor, vacillating between moments of restraint and swells of frenetic and confrontational movement. A tightrope walk between control and chance, the whiff of danger is never far during Shen’s performances. Adrian Dannatt - Who is he? Who isn’t he? What has he done? What hasn’t he done? Or more importantly, what the fuck is he gonna be doing at this show. I don’t know. But presumably it will not disappoint. Adrian Dannatt is equal parts cosmic wanderer, also-ran 70s child star, situationist shit-stirrer, psychedelic comedian and uh. A bunch of other things. Michael Smith aka Dark Fox - has been creating an empire surrounding his animated furry DeviantArt dark-sci-fi grotesque violent hyper-sexual vision, DARK FOX, running entirely on pink-milk, biscuits and a Vitamin D deficiency. he will be rambling out-of-tune musings on said world backed by outsider “dance” music by equal Bristol outsider luminary and Steve Buscemi lookalike Matthew
